I have this mode available but have open differentials and no stabilizer bar disconnect. What does it do exactly?

Likely changes shift points (if automatic transmission), throttle pedal vs. torque mapping, and maybe traction and stability control thresholds for control.

Although I think the 2nd table here is a combination of based on F-150 Raptor and speculation, it gives some idea of what things are/may be adjusted by the mode settings.

Link.

First time I went wheeling in the Bronco I had forgot all about the cheesy goat modes for about half the trip.. When I finally remembered.. I was in some mud & ruts so I tried it out...

It sucked & I immideately went back to regular ol 4L lol.

Bottom chart is what it does, if your rig isn't equipped it doesn't do that thing.

I wonder if the brake differential lock changes between the modes at all.

Aka when each corner's brake is engaged to mimic a locker.

Toyota's do this.

Good question. I'd like Ford to be upfront about all of this. Many of us "know" and care about such details of implemented software.

Very conclusive, thanks. So softer ride and steering and an exhaust note difference. Traction control is disabled by default, so I don't have to push that other button thingie.

Exactly the opposite... Please read my post a couple above the post of that table. I linked to it along with caveats/cautions.

What I mean is that, based on this information, there is no reason to focus on the mud/ruts mode from my perspective.

Have fun and learn about 4 wheeling. When you get stuck with 2 wheels off the ground and can’t go anywhere, you will understand more about it.

Take one of the Bronco Off-Roadeos if you can.

Too much electronic intervention for my taste, mabey my experience would of been more positive If I had locker/s..

Traction control was very much getting in the way of making good forward progress, I could feel the power cut.. could feel brakes grabbing here and there.. just didn't like it. Switched back to normal/4L and started having a much better experience.

Lots of personal preference here, and only a sample size of a one time experience so..

Normal/economy are the only modes with traction control enabled.
