Yeah, I originally had it on my order but removed it just in case it was adding to any delay. Looking at where they put the plug, glad I did. Don't really need it that often and if/when I do, I'll just get an oil pan pad and run the plug to a logical place. The one I put on my wife's Jeep worked great at -35 so a simpler easier fix.

Anyone out there with a 2.3L that can shoot some pics of where the wire is routed?

There are all of these body mounting clips and other contraptions that I’ve never seen before.

I guess it may be more obvious where they connect and their function once I have it routed - but, that’s pretty much left up to the imagination.

I have the service manual info on installing the heater itself - but, not the cord. Gonna check that now.

It's a little hard to get good shots but hopefully these help

Wire goes down just in front of the air box

And picks up on the other side as the one with the white lable that transitions to foil wrapping.

Thanks @BlueOvalBandit - is yours manual as well?

It seems like there are two cord part numbers - depending on if it’s Auto or Manual. They also get routed differently. Which is bizarre to me. I assumed it was 2.7 vs 2.3 - but, I seem to be wrong there. I need to check if the cord ending in A is also compatible with the 2.7/Auto.

I’d prefer to route it like the first image. But, the part number for the 7MT is the one that has all those funky retainers and it’s the one the dealer ordered for me. Which also has your images confirming where it should be routed - from the driver side of motor to the front passenger corner. Seems redundant.

@redone17

I have a 7 speed.

Pretty weird there's 2 different p/n for Auto vs Manual. I can't picture any real reason for a difference.

Ok, that’s what I assumed. So, presumably that second image with the blue cord is ONLY representative of the 2.3L with Auto. Also assuming that 2.3L/7MT & 2.7L/Auto are routed like yours.

Can anyone else confirm?

I am currently planning to route it differently - because I want the receptacle on the exterior of the vehicle. I haven’t yet figured out how/where - but, deciphering the cord differences and factory routing was my first step.

I’d be really interested in finding someone with the 2.3L/Auto to chime in…

He might need your Vin but I'm sure @flip could set you straight.

Alternatively, if you're doing custom routing anyway then a $30 generic cable might work.

@VoltageDrop - Phil and I have been going back and forth on this. We’re equally stumped and decided the best bet is to take note from factory installed vehicles. The service manual has nothing about the cord - and only discusses the heater install. Minor info on cord within the Engine Removal documentation.

I’m almost tempted to go through the fender like @Ground_zero298 did…

I have the 2.7, I unclicked the top 4 connectors ran it out the bottom of the engine bay, though my tow hook (plastic bumper) and zip tied it. 10 minute job, don't need to unlatch the hood now. It should be about a 3 minute job to put it back to stock, as no fasteners were removed.
