I couldn't stand the lack of visibility with the stock setup. Bought a Wolfbox 900 dash cam that uses a rear view mirror as a video screen. The view is adjustable from extremely wide to stock like. I have the camera mounted to the rear window. Others have put it on the third brake light above the tire.

It being a dash cam is a bonus.

I'm with you on the weight of the spare, my Dr has me limited to 40lbs. I figure I could drop the spare and lever it in place but the flat is going to stay there until I can find somebody to help me lift it.
Great idea. What can you tell me about install? Do you use it "always on" as a full-time rear view mirror? Or only when backing up?

Great idea. What can you tell me about install? Do you use it "always on" as a full-time rear view mirror? Or only when backing up?
Install is just running the power wire and the rear camera wire. I ran those up to the trim along the windshield and along the driver side. I went easy/lazy and ran the rear camera wire along the roll bar. The power went under the trim then under the floor mat and up into the console. I might at some point run power from the fuse box. Also there is GPS dongle I ran it along the trim above the windshield on the passenger side and down to the dash and just sat it there on my silicon dash mat. It hasn't moved.

It is full time rear view for me. You can turn it and and use it as regular mirror. Because the field of view is much taller and wider than the mirror allows you can adjust the view wider and up/down.
This easy as the it is a touchscreen and you just drag your finger. You can turn on or off features like clock, compass, speed that display on the mirror. You full screen front or back view or split screen them both.

As a dash cam, disclaimer I'm a noob at this, one weakness I see is that it does not have wifi to use to download files. You will have to pull the memory card and put it into pc for that. The recording can be viewed one the mirror. Recording is advertised as either 2k or 4k front and 1080 back. Night video through back camera is grainy but if you used the mirror at that point you would not have enough light to see regardless.

I'd hate lifting a Raptor, they are dialed in from the factory.

But that is my humble opinion.
My sentiments exactly. I used a 1.5" body lift. I'm running 38x13.5 on +25 Raceline beadlocks.
After talking to Fox, I added RPG collars to regain the height that I lost due to adding winch, dometic frig, drawers, etc. I'm looking at heavier springs. If I get them, I'll remove the RPG collars.

Jerry, think you’re gonna want to invest in a tire repair kit and fix flats that way.

Not many instances where you should actually need to change an off-road tire either off-road or on road. Cutting the sidewall shouldn’t happen very often at all. Any flat is likely going to be in the tread and that’s a cheap and easy fix, plus saves your back from any lifting.

Pick up any decent one. ARB makes a great kit for an easy to find grab.

3M tape that is used for emblems should do it. I think there will be a problem getting the spare off without removing the camera on the backup cam stalk..

I wonder if you could just bend up a bracket out aluminum so that mounts in way it looks through the spare wheel spokes. and again use 3M tape if there aren't any handy bolts.

Or use the empty lug holes somehow.

The Wolfbox lets you mount the camera up or down by flipping the image on the screen.

The Raptor's flares look beyond silly. It's ridiculous. Perhaps, new fender panels could make for a reasonable appearance.

Nice features and I like the WiFi, but the Res is lower for the front at least and it looks like a more complicated install. I have a dash cam and really only want the rear view mirror since I sit high, have tint, and when off-roading could be packed up back there.

Add to that it’s more expensive. However, once they update it, should be likely the best, just not that one at this point.

I just called, told them my problem, and they referred me to engineering. In engineering, I was told that the excess weight on the rear wouldn't damage anything but that I could use collars to level the height. The said that Fox would be releasing a product to address the weight issues. It's well beyond the date that I was told it would be available.

They are not even big enough for my 40’s
I wish someone made metal fenders because I keep hitting them on trees

and having to pop them back on 🤣🤷‍♂️
