I'm happy with my modular bumper, but I also have no use for fog lights. If fog is an issue where you live, the capable might be a better idea for you. You'll also get the wiring and switch for fog lights, which you don't get if you don't get fog lights and it's not easy to add later. Yes, you can use the aux switches, but worth mentioning. The stock fog lights I believe you turn on with a button in the middle of the light dial on the dash. Aftermarket has some nice light solutions, but the prices are a bit outlandish for my taste.

Aftermarket for sure -
And Capable looks bigger - more beefy -

Below is comparison from '21 marketing materials -
In '21 plan, Capable was more $$ -

I didn't want the Capable when it was more, and I don't want it now 😑 I like the Modular bumper. But I am considering saving the $575 and putting it towards something aftermarket

I am sticking with the Capable. Fog Light integration frees up an upfitter and allows for auto turn on in the evening. Also saving a few bucks to put towards an aftermarket bumper/winch setup with some better fogs doesn’t hurt. Kinda win-win since the Mod Bumpers winch setup doesn’t look the best, it impedes parking sensors and the blocks the front camera. All of this can exist, but it’s gotta be aftermarket. The only downside is the wallet.

Ok, this may have been answered in the 347,000 posts about this and all the other changes, but is Ford going to give 2022 orders credit to switch to heavy duty modular in the Badlands (and BD) since it was stock for 2021? Or are we responsible for the extra $500?

It is included in the price protection.

My dealer didn’t add it to my 22’ order and truck is already going into production. Just sticking with the capable bumper since I know I will get the itch to replace it with something aftermarket eventually. If they stuck me with the plastic one that would be a different story.

My only concern is where the hell to mount the license plate.

In the same boat and I already have the front shackle mount.

I'm getting a capable for the fogs, wiring, and switches and I'll swap out to a modular when my Bronco arrives.

My thoughts...
capable looks very stock and bulky. Big improvement over stock though.
Modular does not take away from the grill allows the tires and suspention to show off. I tend to like the smaller bumpers/ prerunner look so this will probably hold me over for a few years until I want to change up the look.
Worst, it looks cribbed from the Jeep Rubicon...
