Cargo Safe (Locking Storage) by Console Vault - installation and review on 2021 Bronco

For the heat question, I bet it does get hot. The bottom of the plastic tub has some heat shield material stuck to it but I can't imagine it doesn't get hot.

I think the drop in safe is a great idea. I think it could be a little larger and more secure.

I didn't take a picture of the bottom of the insert but in the side shot I've attached, you can see the edge of the heat shield on the bottom of the insert. I also included a picture I took that helps show exactly where this sits relative to the muffler.

Maybe someone will make one like that!

Hmm... So I'm sitting here asking myself, do I need the locking storage, or is the fact that it's underneath the cargo mat enough of a deterrent. (I.E. is having the cargo mat (which I do intend to buy) over the storage area turn it into a hide a key situation). It's not really secure, but you'd need to know to look for it.

Also asking whether or not what I would put in it be worth more than the $500 the vault costs.

I think it was about $418 with shipping. Got it fast too. Levit Town Ford. Ruxer Ford had it for even less, but they were sold out. Ruxer also has a great deal on the console safe, still in stock.

The vault requires a separate key so you’d still have a key with you.

I assumed the heat question was to put ammo in it lol. Personally I think this is cool but I like to keep as little as possible in my vehicles so it's not something I would need.

I would wager that it's likely it starts with the key in the vault. What you can do though is put a Faraday cage in the vault with your key in there to prevent the transmission of any signals.

Clearly this floor safe is for your kilos of cocaine, duh. The center console safe is for the grenades.
