Connected Nav is where the unit gets its GPS data from your phone, no phone signal, no map data. Built in connected means the unit has its own GPS sensors and does not require a phone for a GPS signal, but may use it for traffic and weather updates depending on build. The subscription is for map updates, live traffic & weather. You do not need the subscription in the built in unit to get maps, but do need it if you want map data updates, live traffic & weather. As for the trail maps I am not sure as they are new and specific to Ford.
Not from your phone... This isn't AA or ACP. I think the "connected" part is a combination a GPS data (built in for location detection) and cell network (for navigation routing, live traffic). Basically it relies on being connected to function.
I think the built-in connected is the same as the Nav we're all use to. The connected subscription is live traffic and whatever else...
I think this will be the only option with trail maps.
I'm going with high pack and the $800 built in option myself.

Yes your phone, in connected GPS the device requires connection (paired) to another device (phone) to use its gps location sensor. Like I said, no phone no gps location, just google it.

Yes, but you still need a cell signal to feed it the information. I boondock a lot of places where I have no signal, so if I want GPS maps in the Bronco I need the Built in option.

True, That makes. I pretty much always have a cell signal, but for you it's definitely a better option

Unlike most vehicle nav units that are loaded onboard via DVD or other media, the Ford nav system works off of a continuous internet connection that the vehicle has, thus it not only updates itself automatically, it uses live traffic, such as what Google Maps uses. It also has the capability to store mapping when the vehicle is in an offline status. The included nav has a 90 day subscription and the built in option has a 3 year subscription. IMO, it’s the subscription time that makes these 2 different as I see no tech difference between them. This is also the nav system being used in the 2021 F-150

you can download offline maps for most phones Ive encountered. GPS works without a signal, so it will function.
There's that too. I know with Apple Maps you can save a certain amount of directions for off line use. Just don't get the live traffic updates

Yes, if you know where you will be, and want it on your phone screen, I would rather have it on the bigger one.

Then why the different nomenclature?? in that case it would just be Nav with 3 months or three years, and your saying they are charging $695 for 33 months of traffic & weather service?? I got a 7" screen Garmin RV770 with Lifetime maps and traffic for $400.

And I have to pay $99 ea year if I want to update my Honda/Acura vehicle nav systems with an update DVD. The Bronco has internet connectivity and my unsubstantiated assumption is that the subscription charge also includes the internet connectivity. Your Garmin receives its connectivity via satellite as do my Honda/Acura vehicles, not the internet as the Ford system does.

carplay android auto are always available though.
Nice. Thank you! Now I can plan appropriately, but if the sales rep at my dealer answers (already asked him earlier probably won't hear back until Monday) I'll definitely have to let you guys know (highly doubt it though).

Does BL or any trim comes with blue tooth, then why would any one need built in navigation. I will just use that.

If you are out in nowhere’sville, you likely have no cellular service. I attached a link that further describes the nav technology in a recent post
