If it’s a purchase agreement on a preview order that agrees to that price for the vehicle. Without an actual contract with line items for doc tax plate downpayment etc.. they can still add money back to the deal on their end. Not likely but it only locks in your vehicle price not your final purchase price. Yes it is normal.

So let’s say a dealership has more reservations than their 2021 allotment (like most do). They want everyone to complete their reservations to orders to help with allotments. They offer no or a very low down payment during the ordering process so that’s it’s achievable, even if someone is really on the fence about actually buying the Bronco. The dealership knows they wont get any 2021’s for their lot, but if some of these orderers couldn’t complete the deal they would have one on their lot to sell. Oh no what about the 80/20 name match, well our dealership did all they could by asking our customers to sign a purchase agreement and the dealership doesn’t get spanked by Ford and they have their “own” Broncos to sell.

I would sign it. Voice your concerns to the dealer And see what they say. Are you putting a deposit down? Is it refundable?

1000 under invoice and you won't sign? That's just crazy talk
Already put it down. Crazy talk? Not really, just making sure Im not doing something I dont have to. Thats all. Surprised by some of the reactions above. Just looking for helpful responses and yes, Im not 100% trusting of dealers.

Again, Ive never ordered one so that why Im asking if its normal. And plenty of dealers would love for it to be a one way street in their favor.
Ok, so my answer is yes, it is normal. If you have concern about this or that, write it into the agreement. This protects you and the dealer. While I think everyone agrees that if you bailed, the dealer can sell it to someone else for perhaps even more. The issue is in this case they will be penalized. If only one in 100 did it, no problem. If 50% did it, big problem.

This is really standard business practice. You buy a house, you sign a contract to purchase. You rent an apartment, you sign a lease. You order a car, you sign a purchase agreement.

Not trying to pick on you. Just hard for me to understand why this would be considered not normal.

A little levity is always good. That's a great deal.
Is deposit refundable? If so, then you can get out of the order if need be. It is standard. It is saying that the order is correct, you are confirming it and the price.

Voice your concerns to the dealer, they will explain.

I just spoke to them and things sound good. Appreciate all of the feedback. Just a little paranoia is all. Have a great rest of the day everyone.

My dealer has put the order into Ford and I received the order confirmation email from Ford. However, my dealer wants me to sign a purchase agreement. Not sure why they would require that when Im not purchasing until its delivered. Ive never ordered a vehicle so this may be normal, but it doesnt seem proper. Is this normal? Thanks.
I have worked in the car industry for 18 plus years. This is a standard practice. I would however ask you check you laws in your state. In most state's the contract isn't enforce unless good's or services have been exchanged.

Example would be a deposit/partial payment can't be with held unless expenses have been incurred at dealer cost. If you would have your vehicle come in and they order special parts or anything specific to your deal they can recoup the lost cost. In most cases the dealer won't charge or deduct these expenses because the bad press would far outweigh the minor monetary cost. If you sign the agreement as a consumer you have all the upside to back out of the contract. The dealer can also back out of the deal but if it goes to an arbitrator he will side with the client in most cases I've be involved with.

You have to ask yourself, do I want a Bronco.

Signed a purchase agreement Tuesday for MSRP. Have bought many autos from the same dealer using the Xplan. On this Forum I found out that another customer and my dealer agreed to Xplan pricing for the 2021 Bronco to entice him for his order. I have bought 3 ea. F350 Trucks, F150 Truck, Mustang, Escort, Focus ST, Escape over the years from my dealer. Not to mention a lot of referrals. My wife needs a new F150 Truck, Her Truck is 9 years old. I have been a loyal customer and deserve to be treated as one.
We really are not talking about a lot of money, but about being treated like a valued customer. The Bronco will not be our last Ford purchased but may be our last purchase from this Ford dealer. Long term lasting relationships are never one sided.

If you put down a deposit then yes you should sign something saying that you have ordered a Bronco, what the agreed price is and what your deposit amount is (even if it's only the original $100 deposit from the reservation).

Make sure the purchase agreement/contract has language in that protects you if you cannot fallow through with the purchase (for what ever reason) , i.e. no cancellations fees other than possibly loosing your non-refundable deposit if you were required to put on down.

You'll want to read that portion carefully, and make the dealerships did not add cancellation fees to the purchase agreement.

Having something in writing is the best way to protect yourself in the long run, especially if you do have to cancel/not follow through with the purchase.

Are you going to try to renegotiate?
