To be clear, I am not talking about the 'engine running, key in vehicle' double honk -- I already have that disabled.

I am specifically talking about a double-honk that occurs when the doors are removed, reattached, and the driver's door is closed.
I've tried key in the vehicle, key out of vehicle, pressing LOCK / UNLOCK prior to closing the door, starting the engine prior to closing the door....

No matter what I do, the first time I close the driver's door after reconnecting it to the vehicle, the Bronco honks the horn twice and it's pretty annoying.

It's hard to find any discussion because every search engine assumes I'm talking about the typical double-honk that applies to every model, not this Bronco-specific 'doors removed and reattached' honk.

I don’t think mine does that. Now I’m curious.

I swear I'm not crazy. Dunno if mine being a 2022 2-door matters.

Unfortunately I'm stuck in an armpit of a state for the next two weeks so I can't actually demonstrate it

I also have a 2022 2-door and have not had this happen when and/or after taking the doors off. Besides putting the bolts back on did you also reattach the cable?

Yes, I even tried to see what happens if I don't reattach the harness and carefully close the door -- no honk. Open the door, attach the harness, close the door, honks.

We haven't fully ruled out the possibility of ghosts and/or spirits.

The double honk upon door re-install is something that was added in an OTA update two years ago IIRC.

Mine did not have this feature upon purchase and acquired it down the road.

Tested again, now that I've had another chance to drive doorless.

Reattach passenger door.
Reattach driver door.
Keyfob-lock, global window up.
Keyfob-unlock, multiple times.
Keyfob in pocket, outside vehicle
Shut doors
*Honk honk 🪿*

Hate it.

'23 2 Door - never encountered this.

Question: how often are you taking your doors off/on? While I've never had this happen I can't imagine if it did that it would bother me. Given that I only take the doors off at start of summer and back on in the fall.

But even if I did this 2 or 3 times a year, it would be low in my database of "things about the Bronco that bug me".

Certainly - that completely useless and annoying side slider that constantly turns your beautiful 12" screen into an 8" screen while telling you NOTHING that you can't get on the dash and with no way to turn it off.... yeah *THAT* would be much higher on my list of "things that make me want to find the engineer who came up with that and slap his mama"

Not very often but I'm at a campground this week. I'm not comfortable leaving the doors off overnight with the risk of critters making a mess of things.

Doubly so considering we have the 2-door OBX brown leather seats -- good friggen luck finding replacements if anything happens to them.

Can confirm. 23’ 2Door double honks when the second door is reinstalled.

I’m sure my neighbors love me when I’m putting the doors back on after midnight. 😎

I have a 22 BB 4dr and it does this after the last door is closed after reinstalling them. Tried opening the tailgate tonight to see it that would do anything different. No honk with the 4 drs on and closed, but as soon as I closed the tailgate HONK HONK!!

Would have loved to have sat in on that meeting at Ford Corp, when this idea was pitched....and some executive agreed..... 😱

Glad I don't take my doors off. ( I HATE the way it looks...)
