Factory Hard Top Replacement Poll

I thought it would be interesting and potentially helpful to poll how many people have had warrantable factory hard top problems (delamination/bubbles/cracking around the windows, honeycombing, etc.).

You can select multiple options (e.g., (1) the top was replaced 1x AND (6) it needs to be replaced again but you haven't taken it in yet AND (8) it's a MIC top). PLEASE DON'T JUST SELECT "IT'S A MIC TOP" or "IT'S A MOD TOP" -- those options are simply to differentiate between the two top types for the poll. Time will tell whether the Mod Top is better than the MIC Top.

You can also change your selections in the future.

There's no option for "My Hard Top Is Fine" because there's nothing more annoying to me than the people who post that in the MIC top problem threads where people who are having problems are seeking help or simply commiserating. (Edit: Some comments below prove my point.)

There's no option for "My Hard Top Is Fine" because there's nothing more annoying to me than the people who post that in the MIC top problem threads where people who are having problems are seeking help or simply commiserating.

So... maybe I missed something, but feels like those two statements are at odds with each other.

"We want to see how many people how many people have had hard top problems"​

Pray tell, what is the point of a poll asking whether somebody does not have a problem with a MIC top? That can be assumed for all Bronco owners, unless stated otherwise. The whole point of this poll is to identify how many people ARE having problems, whether they are getting warrantied, and how many times they have been replaced. There's one person I know of who is on their fourth top.

I don't give a rat's ass if your MIC top is fine. Start your own poll if you want to count those. I'm not handing out participation awards.

You are kidding yourself if you think there's any way to do a valid statistical survey on this forum. You can't do that type of poll on this forum and it's not the purpose of this poll. This is only to gauge how many people ARE having problems. E.g., is it 50? 100? 1,000? And how many are getting warrantied versus denied? That's what I want to know.

If your MIC top is fine, do your thing. Those of us with problems have actual concerns about it.

If we start seeing people post problems with Mod tops, then we'll know the issue was not fixed with the Mod tops. For now, I'm going to assume that the Mod top is better.

Well ... I didn't follow directions, so you have a mod top with no replacement info. I don't think I've read about any mod tops that have had issues so you could probably drop that one and just concentrate on the plastic cardboard tops.

Edit ... actually, there was one issue with the mod tops, the attachment points for the removable rear windows came unglued on 2 or 3 here, repair was new frame/glass or re-glue attachment point but no actual tops were ever replaced that I know of.

I hope you're right, but only time will tell. My MIC top was fine for 1-1/2 years before it started delaminating/bubbling, cracking, and showing honeycomb. I won't wish that on the jokers who are saying their MIC top is fine, because it is an absolute pain in the ass to deal with it when it happens. (And the fact that a top can be fine one day and not the next is another reason not to poll the "fine" top crowd.)

See my edit up above for correction on mod top issues but I've had mine almost a year and no issues. I think the oldest mod top is just now a little over a year old so ultimately time will tell!

Sorry to hear about your issues and understand you want data but it seems to be a crap-shoot on whether it does or doesn't and there's nothing to do until it happens and hope you're under warranty.

Finally got my Bronco back from the shop after 2 months and 3 weeks (!) for the first top replacement. Can't wait for my next warranty claim.
