I read about the oil coming out like a torrent, so I created a funnel to catch the oil. Worked well! This picture was taken after the oil change, I replaced the OEM plug with the Ronin…this oil change was not done with the Ronin

What drain plug is that? I’ve only heard about the mess from the oem drain.

On my 2.3L engine the issue wasn’t the oil pan drain plug, it was the removal of the oil filter that resulted in a rather large mess on a bunch of surrounding components, and the floor. The drip tray that Ford added below the filter was not real useful.

All those oil-soaked components won’t rust as quick after their upcoming winter salt bath, so there’s that…

That is the Ronin, but I replaced the OEM. I went back and took the pic after the oil change.

The Ronin drain plug has a barbed spigot for a reason: attach a short length of 1/2" tubing on the spigot and you can drain the oil wherever you want. Even less opportunity for a mess.

*EDIT: looks like the Ronin was installed after you used for funnel catch, so congrats on a clean change!

I used a filter socket in through the drivers side wheel well to crack the filter loose a couple turns then let it drip down the chute for several minutes. Patience saved the garage floor!
