I am not a mechanical expert, but very familiar with this type of terrain. This race isn't just a high-speed desert race. There are some sections of high soeed dirt, but there is also a ton of hairy off-road stuff. Badlands is a good choice.

Yeah I wanted to say the same thing. There are goat trails, silt beds, extremely rocky sections, river beds, and yes nice decent dirt roads to fly down. The BL would have been my choice for a race car as well.
