It’s because Ford never expected to get 1.5 yrs worth of reservations in week 1 of taking reservations and then have to launch a from scratch vehicle in the middle of a global pandemic coupled with a supply chain crisis.

Jeep doesn’t have a backlog of orders in the 10s of thousands on the Wrangler and the 392 is basically an engine option. A year from now you’ll be able to put in a custom order and have a Bronco in 7 weeks.
I've never seen such crybabies in my life

Here's a quote from the article.

"Ford has lost 100,000 units of production due to 37 suppliers failing to provide parts as scheduled, the automaker told dealers in a meeting at the NADA Show here, according to three people present.
Gotta love how people blame everything on Ford.

Oh, and in that case Ford probably needs to admit the fucked up and took more orders than the could gave possibly fill in a timely manner. That's not a supply chain issues, that's called GREED at the customers expense.

Ford kept taking reservations and orders even when they knew there were supply chain issue and they had thousands of unfinished Bronco's sitting on Dirt mountain.

So, let's just admit it, it's easier to blame supply chain issue like a CHIP shortage than admit that that company fucked up. Well, Ford did actually kind of admit they fucked up. As of March 7th they stopped taking new orders to clear the back log, So at least there's that.
That sounds more like a certain dealer that many love.

This is where my argument for a Bare Bones Bronco comes into play. I’ve said this multiple times on here.

Build a Bronco that has manual roll up and down windows, stock radio (no satellite, nav, etc…) manual transfer case, naturally aspirated engine (ford has several to choose from), manual parking brake, soft top (hard top optional later) no frills Bronco.

For me, you could even take away the lockers and put in LSDs in that Dana 44 bell housing. Making for even less computer chips. I’d like to say only offer it in a Manual Transmission, but that may be going too far for some people. Put 4.7 gears with the stock Badlands Suspension and 33s. Sasquatch not available. Rubber floors and MGV seats.

Call it the Apocalypse, since it doesn’t have too much tech to break on it.

I’d buy that type of Bronco. AND I know that it would be reliable as it wouldn’t have a lot of tech and too many sensors to go wrong. Anything that can be manual instead of electronic, should be on that model. Pulling out any chip that is not essential to safety equipment or operating the vehicle.

I’d pay between Big Bend to Black Diamond pricing for a stripped down vehicle like that. Make it an affordable Specialty Bronco similar to the Everglades or Raptor, but at pricing an everyday person can afford on a stretched budget.

@Ford Motor Company
The problem isn’t just chips and complexity. 37 suppliers failed to deliver on time. That’s your exhaust supplier, your window supplier, your sheet metal supplier, your lights supplier, your rims, your wheels, your seat fabric, your seats and the list goes on. Yes the electronics are hurt especially but you’d be surprised some of the simple items we source that are not getting delivered on time. I said in another post months back, one of my suppliers for simple components such as springs could not source the coil/metal to make the springs. They were pushed out two months!

It’s very easy to make the parts if you can get the material and you have the labor but every supplier is short one or both of those things. If not a labor shortage, they are probably dealing with a quality shortage because their veteran guy retired and the new guys don’t know how to fix or prevent the common problems. Then a whole lot gets scrapped at final inspection before going out the door.

You could make the simplest item right now and have issues manufacturing it.

lightning, maverick, bronco, bronco sport, redesigned f150,redesigned ranger.

Seems legit
And creating seven versions of Bronco to start plus now Raptor and Everglades. Ford hasn’t heard the term Minimum Viable Product. Why overcomplicate a first year vehicle with so many options? I get they are chasing Jeep but could they have just done XL, XLT and Lariat and just name them after state parks?

Hopefully this doesn’t cause dealerships to pull more BS on customer orders. I feel more steeling of orders and crazy ADM stories for the next year or so.

Stopped by my dealer a few days after receiving my Bronco because the canvas soft top ordered did not come with delivery. While there, our sales rep showed me how Ford sent data stating two door models will currently have a 17% build rate . Yikes!

I love how he said there are no chips .. I'm build week 1/17 a limbo week. Our week legit only has 2 people who have picked up their bronco while build week 1/31 almost 100% of have picked up their bronco at the dealer and even build week 3/7 is getting more action than my week. There are chips. They just choose to add them to the broncos coming out the line instead of adding them to the broncos in the lot . Never getting another Ford again. Unreliable piece of shit company 😡
Same here im build week 1/14 and last i heard had eta of May and now nothing no eta.

Nope but may mean more focus goes to production of customer orders vs dealer stock
exactly.... It nearly doubles the production to people who have orders. This is good!
