Installed the Ford steel flares made by Bushwacker.

37" tires, Eibach springs, and a 1” body lift.

Are you gaining clearance and coverage at the same time?
Yes, about an inch of clearance. Regarding coverage, they are the same width as the original at the top, but they taper more where they meet the body.

Are they quick release like the stock ones, or do you need to remove them with a tool? Thinking ease on the trail if needed to remove one to squeeze by an obstacle.

I was thinking the same. At least plastic is able to give to a degree. But steelies would just buckle and or bend. Then what, have to buy new ones?

or, in this scenario, buckle the fender itself?

The plastic ones do that quite easy on the front fenders. Both my front fenders are well dented and creased from the flares rubbing. I'd imagine the metal flares would be even worse. I've just decided to ditch the flares altogether to stop the damage.

They are bolted on, not quick release. But wouldn’t take long to unbolt them.
