A well set-up rig on 35s can do the Rubicon without too much trouble.

There are some option lines that needs a hard-core 4x4, but you can get around those.

I always assumed the Rubicon looked like mostly 8 and sometimes 9. It's spoken of like it's the Holy Grail of off-roading. :) I guess it makes sense that the namesake Jeep should be able to complete it without any modifications. That would mean Badlands should just as well, since that's the target Jeep model for it.
I am just guessing, the Panch bowl and little & big Sluice are tough, (more than a few rigs have rolled in the bowl) with lots of trail damage in the Sluice. The Devil's gate needs lockers also and the ledges on the cap rock are tricky. The entire trail is only 20 miles but takes about 5 hours. I have never seen a formal difficulty rating so my numbers might be low. But all in all the entire trail is very challenging. I actually did see a stock military M151A1 make it all of the way, but the driver was damn good at picking a line.
Here are a couple shots of the trail in from the Dam to Buck's Lake

I think the Rubicon would be fun to do, but either of these would by my conditions:

  1. Passenger in someone else's rig
  2. Driver of someone else's previously-rolled rig, so they don't care about possible damage
:)

7-8 for sure. Don’t plan to destroy my Bronco but it’s going to Uwharrie not long after I get it. See how it does stock (4Dr SAS 2.7) and then go from there. Windrock & Rausch Creek are also in my weekend driving area. Plan to make a few out west trips to CO, UT ID and WY in the next year or two with it. It’s going through Hell’s Canyon, Black Bear Pass and maybe the Rubicon.

I've never been past level 3, but I'm looking to get my butt out of NJ and explore level 4 and 5 at minimum.

Yeah, my pockets aren't deep enough to brush off damage to a $50K vehicle like it's no big deal. :) The Bronco needs to look good at least until the payments are done. 😄

In my youngest years I was pretty extreme. The hardest trails with rocks, river crossings, hill climbs, narrow trails with many trees in the north east. I learned on 2 Broncos- a 70 and a 71 while I was in College. When I graduated I bought a brand new Toyota Landcruiser, then a Jeep CJ5. I continued with my 4 wheeling on the weekends right up until I was 28 and married. My 4 wheeling slowed down to exploring and dirt roads. Now I am nearly retired and hit a few trails when I am on vacation and drive up to Georgia or northern Florida. So, I have the experience from way back and would love to try it again and see how much I remember!

Level 5 max for me. My rig is mainly for joy riding with the top off, camping and outdoor adventures.

I plan on keeping this rig for a long time and have no intentions of beating the crap out of it to the point where I need rock sliders to grind it on boulders like a skate boarder grinding rails. Lol.

The Base + Sasquatch is perfect for me. I have the ground clearance to never have to worry about rocks sticking up on dirt roads, it'll be great in the Winter and it looks bad ass!! And with lockers it's overkill but it'll be nice knowing I'll never get stuck if I ever need them. The Sasquatch set up is overkill in reality but it's perfect. If that makes sense.

I live in the people's republic of ny so our roads are pretty much level 4-7 on your scale! I have the bent rims to prove it! this bronco can't come soon enough- but what would i expect for all the taxes i pay- actual paved roads?

How extreme are you going to take your Bronco?

Level 1: Only the smoothest roads and mall parking lots for me!
Level 0.5a.jpg

Level 2: I'll manage the potholes
Level 1.0a.jpg

Level 3: Smooth and well-maintained unpaved roads
Level 1.5a.jpg

Level 4: Ruts and washboards are OK
Level 2.0b.jpg

Level 5: Some of the rocky and rough stuff
Level 2.5a.jpg

Level 6: Bring on staircases and inclines!
Level 3.0b.png

Level 7: I'm going to test Sasquatch
Level 3.5b.jpg

Level 8: I'm going to have to do after-market mods to get where I'm going
Level 4.0b.jpg

Level 9: Look for me on YouTube
Level 4.5a.jpg

Level 10: I might need to be institutionalized!
Level 5.0a.jpg
What level is "Mall"... but then over the curb and up the berm to create your own Lion-King-Pride-Rock as you look down on the Chick-Fil-A drive through line while you eat waffle fries with Polynesian sauce and sweet tea?

Can't that be level 4? Asking for a friend.
