At least dealers stopped *riveting* their badging onto cars a couple decades back.

But yeah, that badging being even seen on the car during purchase is usually met with a "ok, I'll need $1000 off the price right now. that's my advertising fee for having your shit all over my car"

There was a trend here for a while where one dealer put huge banners of their name across the top of the windshield. I thought they were service loaners initially.

It didn’t last long... but I wondered if it was some sort of deal where in exchange for the rolling billboards they’d give you a discount.

The brightly colored ones in the OPs pic are particularly bad.

I always ask them what they are paying for the monthly advertising they put on my truck. Gets them to remove it all real quick.

Every car I've bought the first thing in the trash are dealer plate frames and whatever decals they throw on. My Jeep was my first new vehicle and I told them to skip all the dealer flair, unless they wanted to pay me for advertising.

I never run dealer badges on my cars, think it's horrible. One exception... my father had a run of 4 in a row identical Mercedes from a long-gone dealer in our town. At some point I'll buy the car to relive my childhood and have Billet Badges ready to make me a one-off reproduction of the dealer badge.

What's sad is that if I have a good experience at a dealer buying a car, I'm the first in line to tell people where to go and who to deal with to have that same experience.

Word of mouth > ridiculous badging

I had it put right in my signed sales agreement; NO Dealer stickers to be placed upon the vehicle.

I have done that too. I also, made my Porsche dealer put on the agreement, NO HOLES in the front bumper for License Plate holder. No font plate required in NC. So, NO, I DON'T WANT HOLES and DEALER ADVERT PLATE in the font.

Same for me for every vehicle I order or buy off the lot. I let them feel good about the license plate frame, then through it away when I get home.

I usually order our new vehicles. I always tell the salesperson, "No Stickers". They always comply.
