The Bronco AUTO setting seems to be the worst I've ever experienced in a vehicle. Possibly user error but I think not. Anyone else experiencing that when it's in AUTO it seems to be a complete mystery as to the routing of air. There could possibly be gnomes moving air around or maybe some type of magic spell in there. I get anemic flow from the top and middle vents in auto and it seems to route everything to the floor. I always need to go into the settings and select the dash vents and defrost vents. Why wouldn't the default AUTO route to the dash vents like any normal car? Is it just me? Happy to self reflect on using my AUTO setting.

I have found that in Auto, heat is directed mainly to the floor. AC is directed to the dash vents. This is across many cars, from many makes.

I've had my Bronco going on 4 years and never once used the auto setting on the HVAC. Hell since winter started here in AK back in October it's just on high heat and 6 speed fan set to defrost and floor, every once an awhile I'll turn it down to 78 if it gets too warm 😂

I thought it worked OK in AC mode (the Badlands I had ) , but in the winter I hate heat on my feet, so NONE of the AUTO systems work that well for me.
I'm all about defrost or the vents or a mix.

Only in the extreme cold, IF i can manually send a small amount of heat to the feet, I might, but not much.

I pretty much only use the auto setting(68-72)unless its cold and the windows down, or top off and AC on the face.

I think it kind goes to all of them. heat/ac to the window for defrosting/fogging and then a mix to the others, i usually leave it on the first fan setting

I pretty much leave it at 68-70 all year long, rarely touch it. My wife on the other hand...

I set it to 70deg on Auto the day I picked up my Bronco and have not touched it in almost two years. Works fine for me.

The only thing I don't like is auto directing all heat to the floor once it reaches the desired temp. Roasts my already hot feet. Drives me crazy.

You are correct, it’s the worst auto system I’ve ever encountered. If ford would fix it and the music box, it would be awesome.

I have no issues with how it works and find that it works similarly to other vehicles that I have owned that have AUTO HVAC capabilities.

As we all know warm air rises and cold air sinks. So in the winter the system sends air to the bottom vents which will then rise into the cabin. In the summer when cooling it directs cold air to the upper vents because that air will sink.

As for the defrosters, yes that has a separate button that will send air at the high setting to the windshield vents. Every car I have owned with an AUTO setting works this way.

Set it and forget it and the Bronco works the same.

Now some cars like my previous BMW was able to sense humidity in the cabin and would sometimes automatically direct air to the windshield, but that was a unique feature in my experience.

However, like my previous BMW, you can adjust the intensity of the fan speed by just pressing the AUTO button.

All good for us. Auto on 72 and rarely touch it….unless impatient.
