Did you notice anything different switching from Ford DCT fluid to BG synchro shift II, as far as noise or operation?
Shifts better when it’s cold. My transmission isn’t noisy so there wasn’t anything to improve there. I used the MGC additive as well.

Friend of mine had a tune by Ryan...multi week delays then got ghosted after a poor outcome.....wasted his money reverted back to stock.

At least if you motor blows you can get a great 2.0 build and kit for under $15K I know Gozilla is avail in Canada for USD7K becaue a friend just dropped oone in GT.

My first bronco is a ‘21 2 dr non-squatch badlands 2.3 manual. I don’t drive it very much but I want to tune it, upgrade the exhaust and intercooler. The manual 2.3 is very fun to drive.

Hey everyone,

Some of you might recognize me from my 2.7L EcoBoost performance thread, where I collaborated with ZFG Racing to build the first 12-second 1/4-mile 6G Bronco. While I originally planned to go even further with larger Garrett turbos on that build, I ended up selling it before reaching the finish line.

I’ve since moved on to a 2021 2-Door Base Bronco (2.3L + 7-speed manual). To be honest, a base model with no lockers wasn't originally on my radar, but I got it for a killer deal so I couldn't pass it up. My goal isn't necessarily to build the fastest 2.3L Bronco in all the land, but I’m going to have some fun pushing its limits and sharing the data with the community here and on my YouTube channel.

Baseline Prep & Tuning Update

Before diving into the custom tuning process, I performed a full drivetrain service to ensure everything is fresh:
  • Transmission: Drained and refilled with BG Syncro Shift II.
  • Differentials: Amsoil Severe Gear Oil (Front & Rear).
  • Transfer Case: Ford OEM fluid.
  • Engine: Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 Full Synthetic.

For those unfamiliar with Ryan Martin and EMS, he's widely regarded as a one of the best tuners for 2.0L and 2.3L EcoBoost platforms. His track record speaks for itself. He has tuned more 2.3L Mustangs than perhaps anyone else in the industry. EMS currently holds the title for the fastest and quickest EcoBoost Mustang in the world. Ryan offers a wide spectrum of tuning options, ranging from conservative street maps for drivability to dedicated off-road setups and high-output race tunes.

Ryan and I spent significant time troubleshooting the HP Tuners MPVI4 as we ran into some problems, but everything is all good now. I’m planning to put together a detailed write-up or video guide to showcase the process, but now that it's working it's really super simple.

We have officially started the custom tuning process and currently dialing in the 93 Octane map, with an E30 tune scheduled immediately after. Once the tunes are perfected, I’ll be heading to the dyno to pull official numbers for the stock, 93, and E30 setups. From there, I’ll begin a phased rollout of performance mods, returning to the dyno periodically to track the gains.

Stay tuned for updates as we progress!

Baseline Dragy: 0-60 & 1/4 mile

Cool stuff, I will be following.

Do you think the 4.46 gearing is optimal for off-the-line performance or do you plan to change that at some point?

I bought the Bronco for the great gas mileage, low NVH, exceptional build quality, and of course the the ease at which old and infirm get in and out...

I sleep through the night as well knowing if any of these things ever become a problem, my dealer will come through with amazing warranty service as well. I just can't understand why folks keeping asking @Ducati1098 all these questions 🤷‍♂️
Someone thinks they live in a perfect world, lol.

I currently run the cvfab intake with Ford performance tune, flow master outlaw exhaust... I would try to find another intake to run personally, the CVFab causes a CEL that the do not have a fix for, I've reached out to CVFab with no fix as of yet. Does not cause any performance issues but seeing that light on is not a great feeling. Currently looking a Corsa's or S&B for an intake option.

If you want to drive fast, buy a sports car.........not an SUV.
I have a 500 whp Subaru and a G87 M2, both modded and FP tune on my Bronco. It’s not necessarily about driving fast but unlocking potential of a factory forced induction vehicle. These vehicles can be improved with usually minimal $$$. All have a 3rd pedal too so it’s about engagement and the driving experience as well. Not just going fast. I usually just go around the speed limit .

Is there anyone doing built motors in case of ecoboom? I love seeing these motors pushed and there are some really high HP ecoboost mustangs but with built 2.0 motors. This will get expensive but it would be really cool to have a 400+ whp 2 door Manual. Maybe some gear change too.

That's a bummer. I looked at all the 4-cylinder centric Ecoboost tuners and Ryan was by the far the highest rated. His communication is awesome and we talked on the phone for 30 mins before we started the tuning process. I paid for my tune is anyone is wondering, btw. Not getting a freebie :)

Thanks for the insight. I am aware about the potential for a CEL with the CVFab intake. I talked with @CVF-Jason and he said they are working on a replacement model that is due to release in March. If I have an issue, he said they'll send me a updated one for no charge. Also, their charge pipes won't work with turbosmart blow off valves without a spacer. They are building an updated design due to release in March as well.

Nice I did not know there was a replacement model, currently have the turbo smart BOV I also have a spare GFB. I was looking at the charge pipes so good to know that I would need the spacer if I do go that route
