Noticed this yesterday. Cracks are very faint. How concerned should I be? Only 8 months old and took the top off twice over the summer.
2023 2 door base.

Hi there! If you send over a DM with your VIN and Ford dealer info, I can look into your concerns on my end.

You should be concerned. I'm on my 4th top. They all crack, or will crack eventually. If anyone's hasn't cracked, it will likely crack once you're outside of the 3yr/36k mile warranty, and then you're SOL on getting a new one from Ford.

I am concerned!! And all the after-market tops seem to be for the 4 doors! I have 26K on mine but did upgrade the warranty through Granger. I did my time in soft top jeeps when I was younger, I'm to old for a four season soft top.

I would get it replaced. Basically your top is like the picture. Tear the package or crack the top and you have what’s inside. Cardboard sponge in your case.

I just got the extended warranty from Grainger, but I'm pretty sure I read on this forum, hardtops aren't covered. I plan on reaching out to Grainger to confirm.

Why is this still happening with MIC hardtops?
Why are you sending out replacement hardtops that result in having the same problems?!
For our sake and for your profitability...FIX THIS ISSUE once and for all.

Personally, when mine goes bad (I figure it's a matter of time), I will pay $6K out-of-pocket for an aftermarket. Why get a replacement OEM MIC for it to just crack or delaminate too?!

I love my Bronco and the only worry and long term concern is the MIC top. I plan on keeping this Bronco for over 20 years. Will the MIC even hold up for 5?

Grainger indeed confirmed the hardtop is not covered:

" No, it is not covered. There is nothing mechanical or electrical to cover. It would classified as more of a wear and tear item "

Problem is no one is making a HT for the 2 door yet.. There are several companies out there that make HT for Jeeps, why are they not jumping on this. First one that jumps on Bronco 2DR will make bank!!

or we could always get this ugly thing

I have the same issue, small cracks on the driver’s side panel along the bottom edge of the window. Have kept an eye on them for the past year and they have not expanded or gotten worse.
We have a two door , so not any options for an aftermarket top that I know of.

Anyone know what is causing this to happen, other than it being a POS?
Heat, cold, water, all of it?

Here is my guess:

1.) The plastic outer layer is way too thin.
2.) The Bronco's frame/body move around so much (which is normal), but the top has no flex in it, so it cracks. Hence the plastic being too thin. If the outer layer was a bit thicker, I think it would withstand the flex.

Honestly, I'm fine with the cardboard interior because it keeps the top light, but having the outer shell crack and expose the cardboard I'm not OK with.

They are definitely Wearing & Tearing so hard to argue with their logic.

Make sure to inspect the hell out of the new one before they install it. I had to reject a couple. Use your phone flashlight to help see any existing cracks. Good luck!
