We will; the REAL question I think is, "Is it worth the cost and time involved," once we have the answer...
Agreed, it may not end up being worth the cost. This is why I have to wait to see what it will take to complete. I'm a bit limited on resources to try this out without knowing. I really wish Ford would just offer an upgrade kit for it.
I really just want to be able to see both google maps and SiriusXM at the same time. That, and the 12" on my boss's Bronco is a lot faster and more responsive than mine.
Maybe by the time my Bronco is back from getting its warranty work done there will be an answer.

I'm indifferent between the 8 and 12; not sure I'll even keep it- might sell the setup when I figure it out and swap for an 8" screen (kiiiinda wanna put Sync in my Excursion; and after this I'll know what it will entail and what parts I would need to order and make everybody friends). Again, Cyanlabs has some really awesome info on Sync.

So update, actually as of Wednesday the 28th: Ford Service dept. called me up after I inquired on the status of my screen, and after convincing them I'm not JUST a caveman with a laptop, they want me to bring it in to run as a warranty claim under service. Sounds like this will be next week after the 4th if not early the next week.

I hope everyone has a safe 4th!

Do you think that this might get easier now that the 12" screen is standard on the 2024s?

Not for @Schwaggle . At this point I figure Ford has an Snti Schwaggle department with the mission of denying him the 12"

Seems like it; now the service department won't even answer my calls to get my flat tire's leaking bead fixed lol
Can't move on to another dealer because it was a parts purchase...

Did you ever get them to answer the phone?

Amusingly enough, yes earlier today I got an appointment for it to go in for the screen inop complaint. Next Tuesday; good luck everybody!

Okay; so update worthwhile reading for all y'alls wondering if this swap works, and the answer is... yes! I'm gonna call out "Brian" at Midway Ford for catching something I missed on the wiring schematics for the 12" screen itself; another additional power wire for the screen that was not just the 6-pin connector required between the APIM and the screen (the 8" being only a 4-pin round). He spoke with me via the bluetooth, so that works lol. I'll write up more, along with additional wires/connectors/modules if you want the GPS (at the moment, the only real quirk is that while the volume knob does change the volume, it shows 0 all the time). See proof of concept:

You may have to play with the APIM/ACM AsBuilt in FORSCAN to get the volume working ok. I managed to bork my volume knob (still adjusts volume but reads 0)

Has something to do with either 7D0-01-01 or 727-01-01 I believe.

I'll send that over; nice spot bro! Brian was checking out this forum to help guide him to what "others" have done, and only found a "Schwaggle" that has come close... and so "he" has indeed. Your VINs came in really handy so I can get the Ford Nav cables & modlues too @mpeugeot, so thanks again!

Huge thanks for everyone's patience while I blow loads of money and time on this project, and double for everyone who has helped on the programming side. I did also ask Brian, if I even had to pay for it, to write the "novel" on his work order so I can make a legit swap document for anyone in the future; we all know these will eventually get handed down or sold so this may be a big deal once people have the money or "want" to do this.

I guess the next project is either going to be Sync4 for the wife's 1-ton or my Excursion... she might just want the 6.7L HO tune too lmfao

My advice? Order every option you want, including the optional parts like (in my opinion), the JBL bar and alternate top (you order a soft top, buy the hard top and roofing if you live above the snow belt) because you'll have 1 loan with all the parts and options you eventually would want to put on... like the 7.3L Godzilla + 10R140 trans kit on ford performance lmfao
