Have my new wheels on order and on their way, now to find the tires I’ll need…. New wheels are 17x8.5 0 offset, so I know I’ll have a bit aggressive poke on my 23 OBX Non-sas.
stuck on going with just a little larger then stock, 285/70R17. This should end up about just under an inch bigger than stock, but a few inches wider. Or just go up to 315/70R17.
stock is a 32” tire, 285/70 ends up at about 32.7” and 315/70 ends up at about 34.5”.
from what I read, removing the crash bars will allow any of those sizes to fit without rubing, but the 315s do add a bit of weight. My stock setup comes in at 65lbs per wheel/tire.
New wheels are about 26lbs.
Tires end up north of 60 each for the 315s. I can cut that down a bit going with the 285s, maybe reducing the tire weight by about 10lbs.
most of my driving will be on road, with the occasional snow, some dirt, but nothing extreme.
always had sports cars with low profile tires, so this tire type is all new to me!
