I wondered about this. I’ve gone 3200 miles since my first oil change and lost 32% of the oil life (68% oil life remaining). Kinda seems like a 10k countdown.
I would tend to agree.

Ah. That little Distance nugget is missing in the app.

*Two phone calls to the dealer and still waiting for the child safety lock recall to be cleared, weeks after they checked mine.

I change the oil and oil filter every 3k miles. Last oil change was Motorcraft full synthetic, but will probably switch to Mobil Extended Performance on the next, or maybe Amsoil Signature.

I like Motorcraft, but I don't like having to order it and picking it up from the dealer.

Regardless of which, Ronin oil drain plug for the win!

I have heard that it's important to change oil more frequently with E85 as it tends to contribute to oil dilution more quickly than gasoline from what I understand.
I’ve heard the same. My most recent oil analysis shows that it doesn’t seem to be an issue with the 5K interval.

Valvoline got Ford 2.3L engines to run for 500,000 miles using OEM recommended oil change intervals. That's with both their conventional and synthetic oils.

I don't think the brand of oil makes much difference. Just change it as recommended. People on here talk about changing the oil more often. Why? They never specify what problem they're avoiding nor give any evidence to support their decision other than "that's what we've always done" or something similar. Sounds like the masculine version of an old wives tale.

Those who make a living from selling oil changes will tell you the OEM recommended isn't enough so they can sell more oil. They're selling uncertainty and doubt.

5,000 Miles as thats the dealership recommendation. That way, if I ever need a warranty for a faulty tail light I won't hear "well we can't honor the warranty because you didnt get your oil changes every 5k. SOWWY!"

Exactly... 5k miles is well before significant dilution occurs... is it overkill? Perhaps, but it's better than being on the wrong side of the curve.

'Twould be fascinating to see this test done with conventional oils and 5000 mile intervals.

I'm just saying.

And then there's the difference between the test stand and the real world environments--for example, pulling a loaded vehicle through the mountains during a 90+ degree summer.

I change mine every 3,000 - 3,500 miles. It's cheap insurance on these tiny high-strung engines.

Wrong on all points.

OP, with these modern high pressure turbocharged EcoBoost motors, 5k and maybe a little bit more is all you want to do on full synthetic. 3k or a little more if using a blend such as what a Ford dealer will use. Don't use non-synthetic oil.
Do I trust rando internet guy or Ford’s engineers.

Let me think on that one.

I buy Quaker State Ultimate Protection through Walmart.com, costs me $4.80 a quart and an oil filter is $8 so every oil change at 3k cost me $37, so 3 of them is $111 not so bad. And what will I do with a Blackstone analyze, nothing!
So your time is worth nothing?

If so, how good are you at driving a zero turn? With this heat, I don’t feel like mowing.
