Thought it was good, was moving the door to remove the guide and BAM! I tried to get my foot under (guess I was willing to sacrifice a toe lol) anyway, ugh. 22 model so no included door bags though I doubt they would have protected against this kind of damage…

OK so now I am going to get a pool noodle from a dollar store and cut that thing up for additional 2 door removal installation protection! If I had only thought of that prior to dropping a door into the pavement.

😢 that sucks but your not sitting at home. Turn the negative into a positive and burn some rubber!

To the OP - I removed and replaced my doors for the first time last weekend. I have door bags and despite trying to be as careful as possible, I still managed to chip the paint on both of my front doors when reinstalling them (came off just fine). Needless to say there is an Eruption Green paint repair kit on a UPS truck somewhere that is destined for my home. Definitely feel your pain....

Since that little incident - I picked up a rolling garage stool from walmart for cheap. I used this to assist with aligning the doors up as I reinstalled them. Was a nice help when doing this by myself. Note it is barely tall enough to align perfectly, so I may add a little something on top of the stool, but it was better than doing it alone.

where did you chip the paint on your doors? Was it the edges?

yea right at the edge near the top. Even had the rubber "protector" on where the instructions advised.

Honestly you lucked out, could have been worse. If I were you id take a block of wood or some other object (something not metal) and a mallet, tap it back in to shape from the inside of the door and touch it up. Chances are you'll jack something up again if you do Bronco stuff with it anyway.
Turns out our dent dude will heat it up and straighten it out for 50$! So that and a bottle of touch up paint for now. Really dig the rhino liner trim idea tho... that would be nice for how we use it too!

I seen a really cool way Ashley Gill takes hers off . She has one of the little bar stools with the screw like dowel in the center. she adjusts to the proper height and places a towel on the seat for protection.:unsure::love:
Actually I was meaning to ask Ashley about how this technic has changed. If I remember correctly Mae Pearl had a similar accident as OP 😰. @618TRVLWILD

Well the bar stool methods works great for the wrangler doors and getting the bronco doors off. It did not work so well getting them on. As most know the two doors weight more than the 4Ds and longer length on the 2Ds.

I dropped one of mine as well getting on. I had a hell of the time lining up the top pins. I ended up getting help from my Dad. We are going to make a hydraulic cart soon. See how that plays out. Otherwise I’m buying a spare vehicle to drive so I never have to mess with the doors again! (Legit for serious)

Can corrode in the salt states.
It could, but it doesnt. I have yet to see an aluminum f150 with corrosion here in PA. My buddy owns a body shop and repairs the aluminum trucks. It was the main reason I traded my 2011 for a 2016. He also said they are easier to work on. I was kind of disappointed to see the tub on the bronco was steel actually.
