Looks like based off New lexus gx550. Very interested in new off road version of the gx550. Not been impressed with my bronco

It is. The Lexus GX has always been based on the Land Cruiser Prado in the rest of the world, which has not changed, and the new GX was revealed several weeks ago which is why driving around camouflaged testers and posting teasers of random corners of the "new" land cruiser makes zero sense other than to attract attention and hype the event on tuesday.

Land Cruiser fanboys will still act like this is something never before seen and also the second coming of christ.

Last Landcruiser was like $90k, and people are paying over $100k for a Bronco raptor so I don't think Toyota says ohh we have to watch the price.

This is not going to be the same as the last land cruiser, it is a toyota badged version of the new lexus gx550, which is a lexus version of the land cruiser prado. The prado/GX has historically been a shared platform with the 4runner/FJ (actually FJ was on the 120 series Prado 2 door platform) so it sits in the same spot in the market that the current 4runner does. Toyota has ceded the land cruiser market to the sequoia now that they gave sequoia the trd pro treatment. Now that the new land cruiser is moving into the 4runner spot as a 3 row rugged SUV, it gives clear for 4runner to downsize into a 4-door FJ size and compete with bronco and wrangler.

Really the most interesting announcement from toyota this year will be when we find out what the next 4runner looks like.
