Hope VW doesn't sue them before I can get one! I really like it, I need a rally car with a warranty!
Here we go!Interesting that Rivian is pushing all their chips to the center at a time when Americans have decided that EV's aren't what they are cracked up to be. I get it, it's not like they had a choice, EV's is what they do.
But with EV demand slowing, Ford cutting Lightning production in half and deeply discounting the Mach-E, Mercedes pulling back on their all electric promise, and Tesla f-ing up the market, it doesn't seem like a good time to be debuting a bunch of new EV models.
That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it. lancia delta integrale for sure.Think this is the pic yall are looking for.
Love it!! But then I got one of these (on the left):
Most Americans aren't necessarily anti-EV. We're anti $75k "luxury" EV.Here we go!
Any time there's even a whiff of EV sales slowing, haters will jump in with their memes and the misinformation starts flowing. Like or not, EVs are not going anywhere anytime soon. Expectations just need to be reset and the market needs to adjust to meet actual demand.
- Rivian is an EV company. It should be clear to you why they're announcing a new EV model.
- EV demand isn't slowing, sales and market share continue to trend upwards. It's just that the demand not living up to the originally forecasted adoption rate, which is why manufacturers are cutting production.
- The market is overly saturated with expensive EVs, which explains the slowing adoption rate. The announcement of the R2 and R3 is Rivian's attempt to correct this.
First half of 2026? They may be challenged to still be alive as a company by that point.Hey everyone! (from the ARS Technica article):
Anyone want to get on a reservation train again?!
But we’re continually being told that EV’s are “affordable.”Most Americans aren't necessarily anti-EV. We're anti $75k "luxury" EV.
New ICE vehicles can still be had in the $25k range which EV manufacturers have yet to be able to touch. Until then the appeal is very narrow.

Answers itself right there. lolI mean, what do you expect them to do, develop an ICE solution?
Stick shift Nissan Versa is still under $18k. Not that I recommend one, but...New ICE vehicles can still be had in the $25k range which EV manufacturers have yet to be able to touch.
That R3 is pretty sweet. I'm really excited to see what electric cars come out in the next 10 years and the advancements in that field. I bet I will buy an electric car by then
