I wouldn't trust any reading that comes from an app let alone a watch. They are never accurate
I wouldn't say that. My apple watch HR matches the telemetry monitors I use at the hospital I work at. Pretty damn accurate to match medical grade equipment

I just did a similar “road noise” test with my fiancé’s Mazda 3 on the highway, and my Apple Watch showed about 72 dB too. Not bad; I can live with that! I was afraid it’d be a lot louder.

Which watch app is that?
It’s the “Noise” app on the Apple Watch. It should be on the Series 5 and 6 I believe; not sure if it’s on anything older than that.

It’s also on Series 4.

I did some Googling on the Apple Watch sound readings and there’s plenty of articles that support how accurate it really is. I’ve copied a link below as just one reference. I’d say it’s likely a good tool to test the dB; now we just need a reading in a soft top and one with the sound deadening and we’ll be set!

Motorcycle riders: WHAAAAT!?!?!???
SO much yes! My Bike has Cobra longshots with no baffle.

*Current Jeep owners with 33"-44" Mud Terrains no doors/top and a cat-back exhaust system echo this sentiment.
*I have both and 72 is just dandy. I'd venture to say the Db in the TJ with the top on and doors on is approaching 80-85. May just have to download an app to check it.

72 db seems somewhere in between a dishwasher and a vacuum cleaner on the db comparison charts

But much louder than rustling leaves at a mere 20 db
