I copied and pasted this from the first page result of a google search:

"Convertibles exceed safe noise levels
The study found that at 50-, 60- and 70mph, the noise levels in a convertible reached 90 decibels. It's generally accepted that permanent hearing damage occurs when noise levels exceed 85 decibels.Oct 8, 2009"

I guess I shouldn't be driving down the highway with the top down on the Bronco ..... but wait, I can always use those spongy little orange ear plugs

Not very useful, unless will know more about the test. Is it a Base with no body sound dreading? What was the road surface like? What tires Is it running. What engine and trans?
There is no difference between the models with respect to sound deadening. The base with AS tires is adapt to be the quietest of the bunch. That said if the Bronco can return nearly the same numbers as a small car, that is pretty darn good.

I searched and didn’t see this posted yet. Specs of the Bronco:

Badlands, with 33 GY MT upgrade tires, hardtop without sound deadening, 2.7l, and lux

That watch is not a lab instrument and road surface can make a night/day difference in sound levels. Not very useful information. That said the Bronco is unlikely to be a quiet vehicle. It is after all a convertible with aggressive off road tires.

Acceptable numbers. Won't be attending important team call-ins if I'm a participator and not a listener. But fine for fly-on-the-wall meetings. This is far better than my 80db alternative, where I avoid business altogether. No worries at all about road trips. Radio will rule.

Road surface makes night and day difference. We will have to wait until tests are done using the same sensor, same road, and same location in various vehicles. Then we will know.

I tested my Grand Cherokee with badly cupped 32" KO2's on them and it came in at 75dbs. I consider mine really loud right now so I will be curious to see how my SAS BadLands with MIC and headliner actually compares. Decibels are logarithmic so an increase of 3db doubles the sound intensity but a 10dB increase is required before a sound is perceived to be twice as loud.

GA pilots: ”you say something?”,
……….then: “let me tell you about my plane”
To confirm both points, the finicky intercom system in the club Citabria pretty much requires you to use a matched pair of beat up david clarks for both seats to be able to talk to each other and use the radio. My ears are ringing after an hour in there. Sooooo loud.
