Why is the side soooo short?
It looks that RSE could have made the front of the steps extend forward another 2-3 inches.
Not only looks like the Bronco outgrew the slide but looks as if a rock could wedge between the slide and the front tires.

Is there a purposed reason to make the slide steps not extend more toward the front?

If you get the additional slider portion, does that cover it up maybe? I’m a little annoyed we have to buy the slider portion separately as the whole reason I really bought these was I thought the were slider/steps in one.
They are step sliders. The skids just provide additional protection and strength.

Sort of. The additional part covers the bolts and makes it a smooth surface so you can “slide”. Otherwise you potentially get hung up on bolts.

I’m wondering the same thing. You put a cover plate over the front portion to kind of hide that gap but is this done of purpose for some reason I’m not seeing.

So the official reason of why the step stops where it does is below. RSE is a great company who is always open to suggestions, and if anyone here has an idea that could be implemented for future revisions of this step...please share.

" So we originally ran it out like you would think cosmetically it should be. When we do that there is a gap where the body falls away and it is very visible and it doesn't look right at all . We decided to follow the body line when the body fell away into the fender. I know that is the reason now whether there is a better approach or fix, I'm all ears. That end cap is at the same angle that the body falls away from the vehicle. Send any suggestions and we will see what engineering says "

I can find things to complain about but very seldom have a solution to fix it.
Thank you for the RSE answer.
We will probably just not wash that area much and the mud and gunk will help the looks.

Just want to follow up by saying the "looks" of the step are not bad. Just noticed the bit of shortness as I was installing. The protection and easy entrance will be long appreciated.
