Then it rides bad when not loaded for everyday use. Adjustable suspensions allow to tune back and forth the rebound and compression damping depending on load.
So that's what I meant by adjustable.
Spot on. With my Falcon shocks I can drop to a really soft “1” setting for trails and rocks and back up to “2.4” for every day driving and up to a super stiff “3” if it’s crazy windy or I’m carrying a heavy load. It makes a big difference. So much that I frequently forget to change it back when leaving the trails and the jeep quickly reminds me to pull over and flip the switches. I feel like Bilstein could make a killing if they released a variable valve setup that matches the stock HOSS valving at its middle setting. If that was adjustable from the dash or even just with a knob inside… just take my wallet.

yes, there is quite the thread on replacing the Hitachis with the Bilsteins. New cost is around $1300, so you should be able to unload them for under $1000 pretty easy.
