The ford sliders didn’t really offer much protection at all….I did order and try another brand but they weren’t much better and I wasn’t a fan. Most of the ones I like have ridiculous lead times so I broke out the bender and came up with my own. I had everything on hand in my shop except the uhmw

1.75 dom
1/8 aluminum
1/4-20 tube tabs
Black .25 uhmw
Raptor liner

They look good, but I’d start thinking of mourning them to the frame. Those body mounts aren’t a great answer if your actually going to bash against rocks. The added weight of the DOM alone is stressing those stock mounts.

I think that those look great, I know how much fun fab work is! Give me some welders and some metal to weld and I might build you a shopping mall somewhere!

I do wonder though, how close are you to the body of your Bronc? I would worry that should the sliders be used as intended then the weight of the vehicle might push the sliders into the actual body of your "Off Road Destroyer" putting some unsightly dents into the fine Ford body work.

I might be wrong, I can't really tell the gap distance from the pictures.

Anyways, they look good and I am glad that you had fun making them!

A well designed body mount will hold up to quite a bit….if I was out doing buggy type trails and driving full send I absolutely agree with you. Did I cheat by just adding a couple gussets to the ford brackets…yes absolutely. When I get them out I should know pretty quick if I’m gonna come up with a better design….I never got a final weight with the aluminum and uhmw but before that was added they were 27lbs. Stock slider was 22 lbs. my guess is they in the low 30s now.

I left some room anticipating they might flex some…I would have to put a tape on them to get a precise measurement. But yes I understand it is possibility

I left a tad bit of room expecting some flex.(but wanted as tight as possible too) I did add some gussets to the brackets to help resist flexing….we shall see how it works out. In the driveway jumping on them and putting the jack under them they seem solid but we both know rocks seem to put force on stuff that can’t be duplicated in the driveway. If I have issues I have some ideas on how to make them stronger but i am trying to avoid ending up with 50lbs sliders…..with all that being said I don’t plan on driving my brand new 22 bronco threw a boulder field like a rock bouncer. I like to push what it can do but I do know it’s limits…I have a 68 on tons and 40s and a full tube Suzuki buggy for trails and obstacles that my new bronco has no business on. Lol
Tell me more about this Suzuki. I'm debating putting yotas under mine and stretching it vs leaving it alone and starting fresh on a tube chassis.

Here it is in it’s prime….1.6 16v, 3spd auto, 6.5 case. Fully built trail gear yotas running 37 reds. I ended up disassembling it to upgrade some things and do a full tube chassis….I’m not super far off from finishing but I got distracted by vacationing and then the new bronco so it’s been on the back burner for awhile now. New version is 2.0 3 spd auto sidekick case to samurai 6.5 case, same yota axles, ori struts and 39 reds…..as far as yours goes I would just give it some thought on what you wanna accomplish and what you would use it for and go straight to that. Once you go past 31s and samurai axles the street ability goes down drastically. Lol
