Biggest design oversight is carpet on the back of the rear seats in the “washout” interior

shouldn’t be carpet on the back of any of the rear seats, much less the BD and Badlands.

Neutral drops with the vacuum push button auto:) good thing the hood was about 5 feet long! Regarding the accident
This was in 1987. The guy was driving a 1976 Camaro. Camaro estimated at 40mph my brother said he was doing 45. It was all kinds of just steel on steel front corners. Unfortunately the drunk was just fine. No injuries at all other than getting knocked out for about 10 minutes.

I don't think I remember seeing those since the 70's? ... as a toddler. No, really.

I would have liked a cool longer shifter for the manual ,if no aftermarket ill bend something up.and a shifter for 4wd istead of a wheel.

Back in my day, Ford put the light switch on the steering wheel stalk and we liked it!

Is the lack of a floor mounted high beam switch.

Cruising down the road at night, you see a car coming, with a little flick of the foot “klu-chinnnnng” low beams. A few seconds later, without changing your grip on the wheel “Lou-chinnnng” high beams again.

Anybody else with me on this?
Uggghhh. I blinded so many of my neighbors because of that switch. Had a lot of right angle backroad curves. Downshifting going into the curve and someone comes around the corner. Sorry neighbor, my left foot is already occupied.

I love the foot high beams. Much more natural for me at least. I'd say the reason why they'll never return is because corporations will protect themselves from liability in every way they can and it's simply less risky to have them on the stalk. I'm sure someone has claimed they mistook the button for the brake or some garbage and sued.

Old school cool!
That would be an awesome throwback feature!
My 69 Bronco has the floor hi/lo switch!
As did my first car, 66 Caprice 327 w/ powerglide!

Now , back to my regular Boomer programming.... LOL (Technically, not a boomer, but I get it ....50 is O.L.D OLD!)

I had a 1991 F-150 in high school that had the high beam switch on the floor. Loved it! however, it did rust out pretty quickly. I know why they don't put them down there anymore.

I *loved* the floor dimmer on the cars I learned to drive on. Hate the stalk switches.

I suppose it's cheaper to make, but the floor switch was much more convenient to me.

I'm 43, my first three vehicles had the foot switch. 77 Buick, then 64 Galaxie, then a 64 Falcon. One of them sometimes had to be tapped on the side to complete the switch. Still got the Falcon.

I don't mind the stalk too bad, it's convenient-but I do wish there was a standard among manufacturers. Some pull for hi/pull for low, some pull for flash/low and push for high. Of course, now there's auto dimming so...maybe we will see the stalk disappear too.

I was thinking the biggest design oversight was a floating compass and a suicide knob.

At 55 I am bumming now, Thanks a hole! :)
Actually it is funny because my kids would probably laugh and think that I was full of crap if I told them that was how the high beams used to be controlled. Funny how some things change and some things seam to never change. I loved my grandmother who was born in 1915 and passed at 95. We spent so much quality time fishing together. Her stories were the best. She loved life and her stories really gave me perspective on what was really important in life and what was a gift.

Edit: THANK YOU!! for reminding me of her. She was a gem!
