It doesn't, but the name still makes me giggle! For me the term 'Badlands' evokes a somewhat more rugged impression than the 'XLT' this would probably be in normal Ford parlance. And from what I remember, the Sahara at least got (standard) slightly wider wheels, larger tires, and the bigger engine to go with it's nicer seats and spiffy fenders back in '89!

FWIW, the Sahara was always my favorite Jeep trim, BUT...

We vote the Wrangler Sahara, the zooty brother to the base Wrangler S, the "Most Likely to Be Shiny."

I'm fairly secure in believing I'm not the only guy who finds humor in the Marketing Dept's attempts to squeeze words into places!

This was over on the Bronco Sport forum. So now they're testing the Sport in nothing but a dazzle wrap. Wonder what this means about the possibility of Broncos appearing with a wrap and no foam? Would be nice to have some new pics for the spank bank is all I'm sayin'.

Perhaps I’m biased but based on pics of the exterior and the spy shots of the interior, I’d prefer this guy over a Crosstrek or the Renegade. It’s really the Escape that should’ve been.
