2023 Bronco Raptor, ATC 7x16 trailer 2400 empty weight(carrying 2 racing karts and gear so maybe 800 pounds).

Would you keep everything the same and swap to a different trailer jack with the crank on top or electric?

Or find a longer shank ball mount that extends back another 2 inches? (Only issue I have is getting the tongue weight back might be a concern???)

Two Things:

1: Support the trailer to take weight off the tongue jack, unbolt it, and turn it 180 and reinstall. At least that will get the handle on the other side.

2: Some folks use an extender to get the ball out from under the tire. I deal with the same problem. My trailer is very light so I attach the ball to the trailer first and slide it into the receiver and install the pin (which is a pain). Last option would be to find another type of low profile lock for your trailer that will fit under the tire.

Good Luck.

I would spin the jack around so the handle is on the other side as the above poster already mentioned.

That was my plan, but the damn holes don't line up once you turn it 90 degrees.

It's a triangle pattern, correct? If so, can you rotate it 120 degrees in either direction and match the bolt pattern? If not, then get a side mount trailer jack.

Ford Bronco Towing hitch Help!! IMG_4452

make sure you get a long hitch like the one on the bottom of the picture. Some use the extension but it cuts your capacity in half and didn’t feel as stable as the long hitch.

Why not a tongue jack that mounts farther back on one side?

You need a longer ball mount. It looks like you are using a 2" drop so that should be easy. i would go with a 12" or 13" mount like this:

Rotate it to where you like it and just redrill the holes, simple :)
That's exactly what I just did. Only 1 hole needed to be re drilled.

Might need more of a drop on the ball mount? I'll see what it's like on the flat road.

Raptor squatted less than 1 inch (22 1/4 ball mount to 21 1/2).

FYI i bought an extender mainly for my bike rack but it states “no intended for towing” or some thing like that.

I have been removing the spare when I tow.

I bought a new jack that clamps on the side, and rotates 90 degrees so it is completely out of the way when traveling. It has the added benefit that I can open the Bronco rear door.
Also I would urge caution with long hitch drawbars. As far as I know, a 12" drawbar cuts your tongue weight capacity in exactly the same way that a 6" drawbar plus a 6" extender does. The geometry is the same, with the same leverage twisting your hitch down beyond its capacity.

I'm considering a trailer also... could one remove the spare, put it towards the rear of the trailer or at least over the axle, to reduce tongue weight? Frees up the jack too.
