Hey guys, I was approached by a few people already over on Instagram (@ohhhkevingee) and was told to make a post as it may be useful to some in this forum. Hope this helps those of you that have been looking for a board mounting solution.
I have utilized Trailrax pakrax mount to carry my boards, I have driven with this setup several times already over the course of this snowboard season; as close as Big bear roughly 150 miles round trip and as far as Utah, (1200 mile round trip). I’ve had no issues at all.
My mpg on avg without boards is between 18-20 . With the boards I avg 16-18.
Pretty straightforward mod, we used a Yakima Big powderhound mount and modified its mounting points to meet with the pak rax pre drilled holes.
So far I love this setup. If I only carry two boards which is how I have it majority of the time. Takes me less than 30 seconds to do it on my own. 4 boards, same time but with two people.
I do believe any ski mount would work for this, in my case to achieve a flush look and cause less drag, I did remove the pak rax panel as well.
This may not be a solution for everyone but hope this does help!
