I use them just what they were made for......trail sights to get tires aligned on rocks better. I also have the Mabett trail sight lights, so I also use them as marker/running lights.

Got rid of mine. No plans to ever use them and I think it looks better.

I may go down that path too. I think they are worthless in their current form.

At the Moab Off-Roadeo last week they said that you could use them to line up the inside of the tire so that you could either miss, or drive over various rocks on the trail.

I want to find a reasonably priced flag holder for mine, to hold a bright flag sticking up 8-10 feet. Makes it easier for others to see that I'm coming around corners and over rises.
They said the same at the Vegas off-roadeo but I find the explanation completely bogus. The statement from the guide was that aligning the rock with the outside of the trail sights places the tire on the rock. That is obviously not true for the passenger side and almost certainly not true for the driver side. Have yet to find any illustration for using them to align the vehicle.

I use them as trail sights for tire alignment over obstacles and for limb risers on narrow, overgrown trails.

Yeah, absolutely this. Dunno why everyone here hates them, the trail sights are wonderful as reference points.
You already have the raised edges of the hood, the trail is redundant.

The "trail sights" have a purpose (hence the name). They are not just an aesthetic design point, even though some owners choose to delete them, which is their prerogative.

Speaking only for myself, on my vehicle, the forward-facing cameras under the side mirrors provide a great, visible reference for the outside edges of my Sasquatch tires, but the inside edges are not visible from the driver's seat. However, I know from experience that the trail sights are directly above the inside edges of my tires, so I use them as reference points when traversing rocky terrain. Just an inch or two off on an approach line can make a difference between passing over an obstacle or slicing a tire. Visible reference points are helpful.

In my case, I also use the trail sights as an attachment point for limb risers, which are handy on the narrow, overgrown trails in the Ozark National Forest (hence my short video clip).

Obviously, YMMV.

Heavily considering these, but my boat fishing rods are a bit too short to warrant them...
