Not sure on the specs for the 3.0, but I do know the 2.7 in the F-150. I was initially against it for my truck, but numbers don't lie. I'd rather have a N/A V8, but since that's not going to happen, the 2.7 makes all it's money at a MUCH lower RPM, and I'd choose it over the 4 banger for towing.

I think the 2.7 will be sufficient. Its widespread use in the f150 means parts availability and upgrades should be aplenty. If I was doing the 2dr i could maybe see the 4 cyl but not on the 4 door.

I'd want at least the 2.7. That's what I have now in my Edge and it performs well. I just feel the 2.3 has to work too hard most of the time.

It will depend on if I get a 2 or 4 door. Definitely 2.7 for the 4 door. I have a 2015 F150 super crew with the 2.7. Was hesitant at first to go with the smaller motor but was impressed with it on the test drive and it fit the budget better. Almost 5 years and still happy with it. Good acceleration, gas mileage is great and so far has been reliable. Would definitely be willing to pay a little extra for the 2.7.

2.7 EcoBoost - 6 cylinder

I've read great things about the 2.3 EB, but I just want the 2.7 EB for it's extra power. It is like when I bought my wife's 2018 Subaru Forester, with a choice of 2.5 NA or 2.0 Turbo. The 2.5 NA could not get out of it's own way, the 2.0 Turbo, our first one, gave us the assurance we could get out the way in a traffic situation, confidence that was lacking in the 2.5 NA.

Also, the extra power of the 2.7 EB may make it easier with larger tires.

Curious if a economy tune to the 2.7l to the 2.3l numbers would result in the Motors lifespan benefiting any significant amount. I would love the 2.7l for the power and probable towing, but most of the time the 2.3l would be enough for me.

I've actually driven a F150 with the 2.7L and a Ranger with the 2.3L and was impressed by both. Then read/ watched the Ranger reviews where the universal doubts about the 2.3L were dismissed with the first time behind the wheel.

I want the 2.7L because enough is never enough but the availability will dictate. The Ranger is rated to tow 7,500#, go drive one.

is the 3.0 even confirmed?
The only confirmed engine is the 2.3 and a V6. We don't know if it's the 2.7, 3.0, or the NA 3.3
