I want to start buying some gear I will need for when I take my Big Bend off-road. I did not opt for SAS so I have the all-terrain tires. I would like to head to a beach this year and I'd like to do some lite trails in a local off-road park, and hopefully Big Bend, and other national parks as well.

I have some Ford points I was considering using on the accessories site for this and I see there is a 15% discount this month to add on. I would like some input from others with experience on what to consider first. I was thinking about ordering the ARB air compressor from Ford first since I'm going to be having to air down for some of these things.

Here is the item in question: https://accessories.ford.com/products/arb-ford-performance-portable-air-compressor-kit

Thoughts? Suggestions?

After the air compressor I would get a tire deflator kit. Usually around $30 for a set of four so you can air down all of them at the same time. You place them on your tire valve stem and it will air them down to a preset psi. You could do the cheaper route of using your keys or a stick on the ground, but they will save you time when airing down. I would also get some recovery boards, recovery strap and a shovel. The cheapest ones to start with would be the deflator kit and a shovel.

Air Compressor: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/kr-off-road-arb-compressor-engine-bay-mount-for-2021-ford-bronco/

Traction Boards: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/other-truck-accessories/recovery-gear-jacks/

We stock Maxtrax and the GoTreads at our shop. I keep Maxtrax on my F150 and GoTreads in my Bronco. The GoTreads are great as they fold up and tuck out of the way (good on a smaller vehicle like a Bronco).

Tire Deflators: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/staun-tire-deflator-4-pack-standard-duty-6-30-psi/

Strap Kit: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/other-truck-accessories/recovery-gear-jacks/

On the same page as our traction boards. The Weekender (https://www.4x4truckleds.com/arb-weekender-recovery-kit/) includes the snatch strap which is vital to keep, and a carrying bag/gloves/shackles. It's a good basis to keep as the snatch strap will help you in a pinch. We also have larger kits with additional straps/etc...

Shovel: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/rhino-rack-rhino-rack-shovel/

You don't need the Rhino Rack one, but a shovel is good to have. I keep a tiny fold up one in my bronco just in case I need to dig my tires out.

Those are some basics.

There are a ton of random brands of these on Amazon.

Are these what you're referring to?

https://www.amazon.com/EZdeflator-Deflator-Universal-Adjustable-Piece/dp/B011DF61YY

Are they pretty much all the same thing?

Just be aware, no mater how good your vacuum is, you will still find sand falling out in places 3 months later. Just set your mind that you will never get it all out.

Your first accessory should be going with an experienced friend (preferably in their own vehicle) that can help in recovery.

Otherwise I strongly suggest getting a kinetic recovery rope, you'll find most 4wers will help out if you need and providing your own recovery gear will make it easier for someone else to help.

Tire deflators
Tire puncture repair kit (with T-handle tools)
Air compressor. Anywhere from portable to mounted dual ARB. E.g., this portable compressor: https://td-distributing.myshopify.com/products/trickflate-dual-cylinder-12v-300-l-min-air-compressor
Kinetic rope and soft shackles: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/thre...s-straps-and-kinetic-ropes-what-to-buy.64967/

Prepare to spend the night (unexpectedly)
Extra drinking water
Extra clothing layers - depending on local weather

Going out in the sand, I could see adding a shovel and maybe traction boards. Even then, I've not seen much luck getting unstuck with those.

I see the Big Bend comes with highway all terrains. I'd replace with something along the lines of BFG AT's before spending money on traction boards.

They’re pretty much all the same. I would test it out before taking them off-roading. That first set is next on my list.
Cool thanks. I like how it has a nice air gauge too. I'm new to off-roading like the OP.

For my first strap and shackles I just grabbed some Husky from Home Depot. Way cheaper than ARB and will be just fine until I get more serious. I'll just put all this stuff in an old duffel bag and toss it in the back before I go.
