actually, a lot of sheila's and large populations of people not using CFC's made this happen very successfully.
Isn't a vast amount of anthropogenic global warming information dispersed on the internet as well?
Science is not consensus. Most breakthroughs have come from divergent opinions. In fact we would not have modern chemistry without it. We would not have nuclear power, we would not have evolutionary science or even open heart surgery if scientists only went with the consensus of the time.
Most who don't subscribe to "global warming" do not believe in trashing the planet.
I disagree with them based on actual science. I respect your opinion but disagree. All you have offered is CO2 is bad and others say so.
I will admit several good things have occurred as a result of environmentalism in the automotive world:
1) Elimination of leaded gasoline
2) More efficient engines, both in fuel usage and horsepower production
3) More robust vehicles able to last longer with less maintenance
All of these benefit me as a consumer.
However CO2 is needed, and is neither a symptom nor cause of global warming. H2O clouds serve to reflect sunlight, not trap heat in. Sea levels are failing to rise. The people who push anthropomorphic global warming the most, live seaside in spite of their own rising seas narrative.
Thinking auto stop start is saving the planet is simply preposterous, and at most only serves to increase fuel economy ever so slightly.
Buying a disabler this week. Prepare for more hurricanes and better get sunscreen.
CFC Molecules are actually heavier than air... also still used today. Also they last for decades and centuries. 16,000,000 million or more thunderstorms per year create lots of ozone.
Big benefit though, pump sprayers, more active ingredients.

Do you get mad at variable valve timing and spark advance? Would you rather have a manual choke and little levers to control the turbo wastegates yourself?
Hot-restarting an ASS-equipped vehicle is not the same as cold-starting your old 95 Dodge Ram. For one thing, the starter pinion engages as the vehicle comes to a stop. This + more advanced fuel injection strategies greatly reduces the wear on the engine during an ASSrestart. These aren't old analog engines with a thermal strip for a turbo timer.
Let's be honest, how often are you guys really replacing starters in modern vehicles? How many engines are seeing early failure due to premature wear rather than an outright design defects (like the valve issues)?
Some of the replies here show how ill-informed people can be about it. "The ASS electronics are just another thing to fail" -- you mean the ECU? "It shut off every time I creep forward" It literally doesn't, by design. If you're anticipating needing to set off quickly for a roundabout, you can quickly blip the brakes to restart the engine ahead of time.
Something like 98% of cars being sold today have ASS. It's not legally mandated, it's not some big planned-obsolescence strategy, there isn't a deep state conspiracy covering up the lack of engine wear evidence. It's an easy and effective way to improve efficiency. No, Scotty Kilmer is not a reliable source.
True, some cars can be pretty obnoxious with it. My Silverado is way too aggressive about kicking it in. But it still works.

I did something with an Arduino that simulates pressing [OKAY] every time I start the car, but I don't know what the requirements are. It works on my OBX SAS Lux, but not on a Basesquatch someone else tried. It monitors several canbus messages to try determining when the car is started, and apparently one of the messages isn't present on his car.
