Anyone else disappointed in the lack of imagination for the winch integration?

Seems like most of the preview vehicle have a winch, so Ford must know it is an important accessory. I was expecting pre-wired in-cab control, wireless remote, optional camera to watch the spool, and at a minimum hidden in the bumper.

What we got was a tumor growing out of an otherwise nice front bumper, unknown negative interaction with forward sensors and cameras, only a cable option interestingly enough with a fairlead for a synthetic line (hope this is a mistake in the description), and no talk of in-cab integration.

I know the aftermarket will solve the problem, but sure was looking forward to rolling off the lot ready to go.

Ok, does that winch setup really block the air into the intercooler?

No, but it would if it was mounted inside the bumper. IC is mounted lower. Assuming this is why it’s not mounted inside the bumper. No reason for it to be outside otherwise.

Thank the off-road gods that ford even provided an oem option for one. Most manufacturers do not and leave it to you and the aftermarket

Yes, I've been bitching about this for a while. Apparently the engineers tried and failed to come up with an in-bumper solution.

I get it; they wanted a low-profile bumper. Unfortunately they sacrificed function for form. They should've straight-up copied Jeep in this regard.

I'm more worried about the Front Camera and a Winch... wtf was FORD thinking on this one.

Right now their fix would simply be to not offer a Front came when you add the Winch.. problem solved! ;)

No front camera means no 360 views, I would give up a winch in a heartbeat to keep the 360 cams, and the cool trick that shows your tire path on the dash when you are offroading.
Invest in some Maxtrax and skip the winch might be my plan for a while until a better winch mounting solutions arrives.

Have you seen anything that says for sure what if any cameras and sensors are impacted by the winch? I can not seem to find a definitive answer to the question.

Does it cause issues with the camera? Looks like in the pictures it does.

Looks like it to me too but I can not find anything from Ford.

Ford supposedly recognizes the cam/winch issue and is working on a correction allegedly per their reps

wiring up in-cab winch switch is easy, did it on my jeep. Most warn winches and other brands can be optioned for wireless. I'm more pissed that the grill camera seems to be blocked which hopefully that'll be fixed by Ford/Warn even if it means moving the solenoid box elsewhere and Ford offering a steel cable which I definitely do not want.

Question is, can we buy just the winch mount? I can then just go buy a warn synthetic winch of my choice and install it.

That's what I want, that winch platform as a separate option.

Pretty sure the winch is there to help after these fail......
Yeah the boards are good for what they are but not a substitute, in my opinion.
