The owners manual is being updated accordingly.

All joking aside, this is a real liability that Ford should take seriously. If anything like this happened within the consumer goods brand that I run it would be a huge red flag.

I actually reached for the console in my Explorer the other day.

I used to laugh at myself for reaching for the door in the Bronco. Now I laugh at myself whenever I reach for the center console in my E350. Laughed even harder when I did that in a LR Discovery rental. It's actually quite amazing how quickly the human mind can be conditioned.

Really? It's an off-road truck designed for peple who hike, fish, camp, and rock crawl Moab. These folks can't tolerate a little scrape on their finger? God forbid they catch a fish hook out in the Wilds. Or pinch themselves with the winch.

The soft top on my YJ had pinch points everywhere, along with the opportunity to stretch and strain fingers and wrists. It had unfinished spot welds to catch skin on. And sharp edges on the door sills.

Life is full of dangers.

Professional experience has taught me to take this stuff seriously.

I don’t believe this is the only thread on this topic. One user needed stitches. That’s real.

Yes, life comes with risk and I’d wager the average B6G consumer is likely more mechanically inclined versus the “public”. Most of this user group likes to get dirty and bust a knuckle pushing on a wrench.

What happens when Dad takes off the panel and hands it down to his spouse or one of his kids and they cut their finger. I guarantee the public would be pissed off. I’m not saying that I’m a litigious person, but this is what liability lawsuits are made of. Even something small.

If the product does not disclose that it’s sharp or has any logical application of risk, then the risk of liability becomes real.

From the average consumers perspective and my professional opinion there is no assumed or inherent understanding of risk that interacting with the MIC top could subject the user to sharp edges and potential cause bodily harm.
