Looks kick ass! Love the look, it beats the crappy tube doors, hands down. Nice job.

667 miles with the doors so far with no issue. I like them better than the factory doors. Lighter, open and close easier, real easy to hold the door open while backing up, hit latch, grab halo. Love that closing thud.

Did notice some flutter on the drivers. Going to adjust the door latch, may just be the seal taking shape.

New preferred setup with the doors. Hate the direct sun beating on my head.

The bimini mesh didn't help with the direct sun? At least it looks like that's what is installed there?

Cuts out about 50% of the heat I would guess. Far as light blockage, still to bright for me. Have to wear a hat. My eyes are light sensitive. Front 2 tops make it perfect.

Air brush with some candy red. Covers the silver, leaves the black.
Read thru entire post. Good stuff. Really like your build.

So came across your answer to this. I too have an airbrush that I use for scale model building (got back into my old kid hobby a couple of years back). Anyway, I am very comfortable with using it and could maybe do the same with other things on Bronco but I also know you must have used some kind of mask to keep all that red paint in the lines. I am curious what you did. Maybe you did an outline using paper and cut it out with a knife to make a mask or maybe used that fancy liquid mask.

Keep up the good work as you are right, it helps us all figure out what we want to do too.

@Panzer948

I free handed what I could and used a detail Q tip with cleaner for any light over spray. Can cut in a line like that. For the bigger stuff I just used some painters tape and a exacto knife.

The wicked red is a exact match to my race red. I was told they’re were 3 shades of race red. One for 21, and 2 for 22. They can decode it per the vin. Not sure how much difference there is between the 3.

These are the 4 products i used for everything I painted. They have held up with multiple washes with no fading. Only warning is Castrol super clean will take it all off if left sitting on it. I choose not to urethane them for touch up. When my A arms get tore up, I spray them with super clean, wait 10 minutes, and the paint falls right off, takes 5 minutes to reshoot them. Easy maintenance.

Precision cotton swabs. I use these for a lot of things. Very handy.

Headed out to holly oaks for the 4 fest today for a shake down run. Halo doors are worth it to me. The view is so much better in the tight trails and drop offs. Breeze was great also at slow speeds. Had nothing come through either side. Now that’s done will be heading back out tomorrow to do some damage.

Went back to 4fest today. Doors are awesome. Just like the rain storm I drove back in, the mud is deflected back out too. Looks like a Eddie Bauer edition now lol. Kinda like it with the black turned to tan. May be a great look for a hpr.

Why do those flares look wider? Are they? Or just a camera angle?
Would have to be the camera angle or the shading. Just the oem sas on it.
