I think their approach is pretty smart actually. This wouldn't work for just any new car but with a vehicle as iconic as the Bronco that has been away for so long, it's working for them.

Ford is:
  1. Drumming up hype which is bringing in new buyers
  2. Holding some people back from buying a new Wrangler (or similar) now that they know this is coming
  3. Getting a very good gauge on demand which should help with budgeting and locking in sourcing for the manufacturing process
  4. Getting customer feedback in advance which may allow them to tweak or add some things before final pricing and production
Strong on #4 for sure. I wonder if Ford expected so many complaints about things we've seen so far?

Actually, I think Ford is thrilled right now with the number of reservations that have been made and I hope they are not taking that for granted. They have an opportunity here and if they slip up too much, something else better will slide right in and there goes their opportunity.

I'm hopeful that they see the big and long-term picture and not take advantage of the early interest.

This is probably the 8th thread about this topic lol, but without addressing any specific posts that have been made, it's common for Ford to show a vehicle about a year before production, so that should not be a shock to anyone. Ford also always releases B&P and full details closer to launch/months after the reveal - I'm honestly surprised we got as much info as we did at launch.

Here are Ford's choices:
1) Reveal vehicle, have full info, with a year left until production, with zero additional anything in between, interest wanes.
2) Reveal vehicle with a lot of info, but not full, release a few more details month by month, B&P comes out 1/3 through, interest is maintained throughout
3) Wait to fully reveal vehicle until EVERYTHING is ready, a month before production starts (then there'd be major outcry about not having time to decide finances blah blah)

I work in product development, and the reality is you never have everything ready, and sometimes you just launch before you have full info nailed down because of a deadline.

The reality is, whether B&P was up at launch or available a month from now, it's not going to change when your Bronco arrives. I get wanting it - I want it up too, but once it comes up, we'll click what we want, and then what? ok cool, we know prices, but then we just wait, and waiting is happening regardless.

I follow the industry pretty closely (and follow Ford even closer) and keep an eye on vehicle launches, and while this is definitely the closest I've followed a launch, I don't think I've ever seen so much complaining about a vehicle when we don't have full information. And when info is found out, there's something found to complain about the information, frankly it's starting to make the threads not enjoyable to read anymore.

What survey?
10k people who reserved were randomly selected to get surveys that had options pricing and if they were interested in buying that option. It was used to gauge what people would be willing to pay and those prices will probably be the same if not a little cheaper on certain ones due to the high level of bitching(v6/auto).

99.9% of people who buy vehicles buy them off the lot. This situation in unique in that everyone who wants a bronco has to wait and forced to wait close to 1 year. This is the only reason why there so many stupid threads on this forum. 1 year from now we will look back and chuckle at how stupid we were to read and respond to all of this nonsense.

"At the 2008 SEMA Show, the Ford booth was shrouded in mystery and the type of hype normally reserved for something big. After speeches were made, the cover was pulled off of a mysterious silhouette, and there stood the 2010 Ford F-150 Raptor—a high-performance off roader that was designed to handle both the desert and the roads."

2 year wait for what wasn't even a completely new vehicle but a version of the F150.
Once they hit the dealers I went for a test drive, sold. Placed my order and then waited 4 months for delivery.

This is not something most people know. Therefore, the b&p is needed for financial planning. A survey is just a survey.

think ford wants build and price and concrete information like that to be delayed? They want it sooner so they can build sooner as wel. Their hands are tied due to the pandemic hitting and the world economy being hit as well. They want the bronco to launch as a success but they can’t risk losing money and undercutting themselves if they haven’t solidified actual pricing for the packages etc
We can’t order for another few months anyways and won’t actually see them until spring

Nope.

I like all the little leaks and sleuth work being done by independents, the trail ride footage and the local reports by 6g members. If they had released it all at once the hype would die...this keeps us stringing along. B&P has to be perfect, hopefully it will be.

For me, I like the discovery trail we are riding on....

Yeah, dumb people with their financial planning of a vehicle that may cost $50k+. How dare they want to have detailed information in advance so they can save cash and plan ahead over the long haul. What a bunch of suckers. :sneaky: :sneaky:
If you know it might be 50k+ what’s keeping you from saving/planning for it?

Who cares what the dealers know or don't know. I've found across many different brands that the enthusiasts always know far more than the dealers do.

I guess I'm the only one who likes to plan ahead and know what I'm getting into? I take my financial planning seriously!

not sure of your point here?...is it that you have been on the discovery trail longer?
Sorry, Mac, yeah just you were saying how you’re enjoying the delay and I was pointing out that it seems you might’ve not noticed the mountain of delays preceding this, hence your lack of frustration.

yeah, I get it, guys like that on every forum....who feel their time spent and their reaction scores make their opinions carry more weight.

I don't feel that way. You are correct, my time watching these developments has been shorter and hence, my frustration levels may be lower or my patience may be better.

I think the question was how has the roll out been, not the last 25 years. I feel the roll out has been fine and I stand by my statement of enjoying all the sleuth work, the little leaks, the photos.

I like you die hards who have been here forever and following the history , I admire your dedication. I was spending that time living the rest of my life, but I am here now, thanks for letting me be a part of....

peace
