If Ford is gonna make me wait to overpay for a Bronco with all the stuff that I really want on it, then I'm just gonna wait till the 2022 F-150 Tremor comes out hoping it gets the PowerBoost engine. If not, I'm very happy with the EcoBoost 3.5.

So I'm all in on the Bronco, but when it comes time to actually place my order, I will be looking at a few different vehicles to get an idea if the Bronc is really what I want to buy. So tell us, what are you cross shopping the Bronco against and why?

If I order a Bronco, it'll probably be a 2-dr Badlands, 2.7 auto, High Package, Towing Package, Roof rack. Looking at about $50k invoice w/ destination.

Here's what I'm looking at to compare:
2021 F-150 XLT Super Crew w/ 3.5 Hybrid (or 3.5 EB / 5.0 V8) FX4 package - $49k MSRP
2020 F-250 XLT Super Crew w/ 7.3 V8 & Tremor Package - $51k MSRP
2nd Gen. Raptor Super Crew - $45k-$55k depending on miles

And then out of left field:
Jeep TJ soft-top/half doors w/ I6 + 18ft. bowrider boat - $30k-$40k total

The topless cruising that the Bronco and Jeep provide call to me, but also I like big vehicles and big engines, so that F-250 w/ Tremor is really enticing (especially if I can find one with $10k on the hood like most full-size trucks). I have NO need for a truck (but I also have no need for a Bronco).

What will you all be looking at instead of the Bronco? I assume lots of 4Runners and Gladiators?
Nothing.

I'm curious about the Jeep 4XE, but I doubt I'll get it instead of the Badlands I'm waiting for.

Saw it in person looks really good same with the 392 I didnt think the blue (4XE) and bronze (392) accents would look good but i was wrong.

Well, if Ford does something stupid, I'll keep my current truck until it decides to give up the ghost then I'll buy some boring to drive electric in 5 - 10 years.

R.I.P. fun driving manuals

I am seeing lots of vehicles here that do not really seem comparable.

F-250? Massive. If you enjoy vehicles that big - you shouldn't really even consider a Bronco.
Cyber Truck? an untold number of years away, much more money, electric - aka would have to get a home charger installed..etc

If you really are keen on the Bronco I would assume what should be cross shopped are Wranglers, 4Runners and small pickup's.

392 stickered at ~78k...too much $$$, only for the diehards. 4xe at -48k, not bad with some dealers offering 5% off invoice and $7.5k rebate...good 10k less than the BL build.

Cross shopping with 4Runner TRD Pro and a Wrangler Rubicon (no Gladiator). Needed a proper off-roader. Seems to be the options out there?

*Forgot to mention an AWD Transit Van with a lift.

What's your take on the Rivian? I am not planning on anything other than Bronco, but it does intrigue me. It is a bit pricey but most above average E vehicles are at this point. I have no idea how good the vehicle is or how financially viable the company is. The specs look pretty good though.

My updated cross-shopping list is (not in any specific order):
Sahara 4xe
4Runner (either 2021 or upcoming redesigned version)
Bronco Sport Badlands with Badlands Package
2021 Kia Sorento X-Line (with 3rd row permanently folded down)
2021 Honda Passport AWD Touring or Elite

I may or may not keep my res at this point.

The only thing keeping me in is Ill be applying for a refi on the house to do an addition in the next couple months so there's no point in dropping my reservation to buy something else till that's done.

Once I I get that out of the way I'll place my order sometime in late February or early March assuming Fords finally gotten their shit together.

If not I'll be looking at a Willys 4dr.
