The catch can is for gas engines that are direct injected. The issue is that since the gas is injected directly into the cylinder the blowby oil from the crankcase that is routed into the intake can cause a carbon build up on the back of the intake vales, since there is no gas to wash it off.
Is this something that the ol' Italian Tune-up can take care of?

While accurate, that is only half the story. The catch can on turbo engines will help prevent all that gunk from getting into the intercooler, as well as providing a cleaner re-injection for emissions. I’ve got one on my 3.5 that is also both direct and port injection and I am amazed every time I drain the can at the gunk that comes out

What do you do if the soft top is misaligned? When I pull the top down to cover the mid section lock point doesn't click on the driver side. And when it does click/lock in it then misaligns on the front latch. See below

Another indication of misalignment, day 1, the back bar is getting scratched from dropping the top 2x's.

Kyle....on a different thread, quite a discussion going on about oil capacity on the 2.7L

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/2-7-oil-change-took-6-quarts-not-7.20789/

From Bronco Nation: Engine Oil
Capacity (including the oil filter) for the EcoBoost engines: 2.7L: 7 quarts

Given the large number of times Ford has mis-spoke in the past 18 months....are you able to verify whether 6 quarts , or 7, is the correct capacity?

Thanks

So I have a 4 door 2.3 big bend manual transmission. I have a few issues and was wondering if you had any input?

1. Brake light comes on and goes off after it sits for about an hour or so. Dealer has no codes on this issue yet.
2. Soft top side panels are marked up from framing on soft top. I have a line from rubbing on the inside of glass(plastic) on both window panels.
3. Soft top wont click in place in both half and fully down positions. Passenger side I have to adjust rubber so top wont vibrate in the down position.
4. Whistling noise which I think is coming from the front grill and not mirrors.
5. After doors have been reinstalled the bolts come loose after awhile.
6. Top down windows up and wipers on the drivers wiper make a noise from hell fighting the wind.

All this being said I love the Bronco and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have 7,613 miles on her right now and have only had her for 4 weeks.

Warranty visit to the dealer. This allows the issue to be captured and documented (Ford will hopefully then issue a TSB, improve design, etc). Also gives them a chance to touch up the paint so you don't have to. Pain in the butt for sure, but your efforts will help all future owners and Ford resolve issues faster.

I've personally only taken a vehicle in for warranty work once, I'm used to fixing my own stuff. But given the nature of a brand new platform and the cost, I'm going to drive down there for anything and everything for the first 3 years.

Was coming in here to see if this was posted yet.

Another member confirmed their 2.7 only drained and took 6 Quarts. Ford has a very problematic misprint on their hands.

This is interesting as the service manual says factory fill is 7.5 qt and Service fill with filter is 7 qts.
The owner's manual says the same. Did the owner allow for the filter to drain? The filter is designed to hold the oil for a longer period due to the auto start/stop functionality.

Edit:

2.7L in the F-150 is 6qts with filter. I suspect that if the 7qts is accurate for Bronco, it has to do with the possibility that the vehicle will be on extreme angles for extended periods of time.

Double Edit: Found this Special Service Message specifically for the 2.7L/3.0L variant engines. This engine holds oil for a while before it fully drains back to the pan.

When checking the engine oil level after shutting off the engine wait at least 15 minutes prior to checking in order to allow the oil to drainback to the oil pan.

This is interesting as the service manual says....
Also....the check/change procedures are pretty specific:

Change the engine oil and filter. When checking the engine oil level after shutting off the engine, wait at least 15 minutes prior to checking in order to allow the oil to drain back to the oil pan. The engine oil level can be checked immediately if the engine has not been started. When changing the engine oil, the engine needs to be at normal operating temperature and the oil filter removed before draining the oil. Allow the oil pan to drain completely for up to 5 minutes. Check oil level after filling by following the oil level check procedure.

I let oil drain for 30 minutes, after engine cooled and sat for 15 prior to that with oil filter out and it still only drained 6 quarts no idea where the other quart is hiding

I can live with that fuel economy! What have your typical driving conditions and speeds been so far?
