I was looking at various tires and sizes an was surprised how affordable these are.

Compared to some other brands, you can get two of those Territories nearly for the price of one. Even if they are less hardy or wear quicker than some other brands, you'll have the second tire to throw on. Not a bad deal depending on usage.

I guess I was surprised how inexpensive they are compared to similar tires for the same size.

First gen Goodyear territory MT tires are selling cheap. Tire Rack has the second gen territory now which is much more expensive. Since many people on this board hate these tires. When I need tires I'll head to marketplace.

Ya, I ordered these, showed up to my appointment and was stuck with buying more expensive tires, despite ordering 5 days ahead. Ended up running me an additional $650 dollars. I was pretty unhappy with the situation but discount tires tried to make it right.

I also scratched my head. What I picked up is that those are two sets of Nitto Ridge Grapplers, which are not (ahem) cheap tires. My neighbor just got four and spent well over $2k.

In comparison, the lightweight 35" Territories look puny, and obviously a lot less rubber. Hence, cheaper price all around (I assume the Nitto's are 13.50"?).

Zoom in. They are different tires. Left is 315 70 17. Right is 37 13.5 17.

Exactly - cheap for a reason.

Both left and middle are 315/70R17 from Nitto and GY. The Territories are a good deal dollar wise but they seem like a cheap OE tire in comparison to other brands.
