Well, I just cleared 2500 miles on my 2.7, which has been reliable so far, however I am not going to consider it reliable until 3k (as all of the known failures have happened under 3k miles).
Hurry up and put a couple hundred more miles on it and get to 3000 I don’t think I seen a 2.7 with over 3000 yet

My take... get the 2.3 with the manual and have no regrets. With the auto, I'd have the 2.7 without a second thought. That said, if it's keeping you up at night the 2.3 is no slouch and it's more than capable while still being entertaining. I really don't think you can go wrong. I'm also having to come to terms with my old school "displacement trumps all else" thought pattern. Taking delivery of my 2.3 with the 7 speed did just that. Good luck! You'll enjoy it whichever way you go.

2.3s aren't scattering themselves all across the country in alarming numbers. I can also get my manual fix, and manuals have an easier upgrade path with additional drive additions...

It’s so funny to see people on here did ding the 2.3. It gives up less than half a liter in displacement to the 2.7. Has less thank 15-40hp difference depending on fuel and less then 100lbft of torque. By any standard the 2.3 is better than every bronco engine before it and with a ford performance tune almost equals the 2.7 and it’s almost 1800 bucks cheaper. I went for the 2.7 Bc money wasn’t an issue when I bought and I selfishly wanted it all. But honestly as I said before 2.3 is great and I should have gotten it.
$1800 over the 3-5 years of ownership is what? $1-$2 per day.

Put another way, it's $18 per ft/lb of remorse, anytime you wish it had more low end grunt.

Why do you think that I put that as a cut point. LOL. I took it wheeling today, it was unreal what it was capable of doing. I went down a path that was enough to catch the skid plate in a 2 door (not too badly) but it was distinct contact. I wish I had gotten a good picture of it.

Thought there was one with 4K possibly in your tracking thread?? Did that end up being different issue?

Off the line, I'm not sure you'll notice much of a difference. They're geared oddly in the lower gear ranges. I will say, the 2.7 at 80mph has a lot of power left to give.

If you have to ask, go with your gut. Sounds like the 2.7 is in your future.

2.7 unless you wasn’t the manual. It’s the cheapest way to get more power. The guys who settled for the 2.3 to get it quicker will be adding aftermarket air filters and exhaust to get a little more HP

Biased but have had 4.2L V6, 4.6L Triton V8, 2 5.0L Coyote F150s, and currently running a 2.7 EcoBeast in my F150 paired with 3.55s. So naturally, convinced the wife the 2.7 EcoBeast was the route to go with her Bronco. She came from a 2.3L Badlands Bronco Sport, test drove a few 2.3L fullsize BLs & Squatches but she loved the torque and performance of her 2.7 with 3.73s.

1. My bad, she had the 2.0L in her Badlands...but readers get my point.
2. Could GAF how old? You opened up the thread and read it...like anyone first jumping up on here have. The platform is not here for your info only. Why you trippin'? I'm sharing my opinion for other newbies looking for inspiration, not from you buddy.

I’m sure the OP is very interested in your opinion 3 years later. Now he can finally make his decision on which engine to go with 🙄
