2021 Ford F-150 Owners Are Already Facing Rust, Corrosion Issues

so we've all decided that a little superficial rust is its own form of corrosion protection, but if we did want to keep things looking pretty for aesthetics, what would be the options for those looking for projects while its still factory fresh?

I am using Eastwood products on my '75. I cleaned up and painted the frame when I dropped the fuel tank. Their stuff covers well, high level of solids, and produces a rock hard smooth surface. There stuff would work well on covering axles and such.

I was just looking at this on my ranger the other day..and found no rust... Cause it's painted. Lol

That looks horrible. Regardless of whether it’s a metallurgical problem or not, it’s definitely a cosmetic issue.

My 93 f150,2003 f250,14 tundra,all had some rear suspension /driveline unpainted parts that rusted and looked horrible.
It was an easy fix with a can of fluid film 2 times a year ,if you dont do something eventually the associated hardware will become a problem for mantaniance .
I live on the ocean so rust never sleeps here if your in the desert it may not be a problem.

Not saying any vehicle manufacturer uses either of these... but I’ve worked with them a lot. A572 and Corten steels ... usually intended to rust.

Cost... Yeah sure, some spray paint will collapse the budget.

I'll gladly pay a bit more so that my new vehicle doesn't look like that. I've owned many vehicles (but admittedly not in Salt road areas) and never had a car look that bad underneath. My 65 mustang didn't look like that, and my Jeep XJ didn't look like that.

Makes you wonder what else they figured "out of sight out of mind" applied to.

People are fine with mud all over, but a little surface rust on iron parts that you need to crawl underneath to see is a big issue. NOT

Just spray a can of WD-40 on it. Problem solved.

Jeeps and dodges dont have this problem because of all the fluid leaks. The underside of my comanche and eagle are sooo shiny!

The rear end is Ford's 9.75" design, slightly beefier than a Dana 60. The front diff is Ford's 8.8" design.

The standard axle in F150 is the "Super 8.8", the 9.75" is available with payload packages.
