I was going to say that (the C word), but from my understanding, there's some sort of unwritten rule on 6G where you're not supposed to...Yes, they will be Covid broncos

Dani,
The length of the thread should tell one thing to Ford: Details matter.can't believe this is a 27+ page thread, but as a (hopefully) MY22 owner, I am a little bummed about this change.
I doubt this is related to the chip shortage and all about saving $0.10 for Ford. Ergonomically, I am not happy about this. I would like to see the temp on the knob when setting a new temp. But when just looking to see what the current temp is, looking at the screen doesn't take my eyes as far away from the road.
I guess it will depend if the temp is ALWAYS on the flat panel screen or not. If you have to "do something" to get the temp to be displayed on the screen, this is an overall negative change. If the temp is ALWAYS on the screen, then I guess I will just need to look at the screen when setting a new temp, and it will probably become 2nd nature over time.
Wow, my Rapid Red Badlands with temp display just went up in value
Thank you!! I want to try a retrofit when I get mine. Much appreciated!I imagine it would be fairly straight forward. You would have to replace that whole control panel. I’m sure programming is different as well. I haven’t pulled up the changes in FORScan data yet but will poke around when I get a chance.
Edit: I only see one notable change and that is a change for SBT (Status Bar Temperature). It went from On to Off which I assume means the knobs were the SBT displays. I have not verified this change will bring the temperature display to the top of the APIM but it is the only programming difference. This is strange considering you think it would be the opposite but again I would like to confirm when I get the chance. I found no changes in the actual HVAC Control Module (733) at all. This leads me to believe that an output from the APIM (SYNC Screen) sends the temperature setting to the HVAC CM displays and when default to off the APIM displays it on the status bar. Which again sounds confusing but this is what I see so far. My data reference for what does what could be backwards too (2021 F-150 FORScan spreadsheet)
For those that would like to try it, the change would be in the APIM (7D0). The "*" represents the value that changes. With Dual Zone the value on my 2021's are both 0 and on an Outer Banks Lux it is 4.

Seeing them in the raptor promo material was another kick in the nuts today too lolThat's a frustrating sacrifice but being in the embedded electronics business I can definitely see that being a choice they might have to make to push production -- I guess those little OLED displays are among the random e-bits that have insanely long lead times... even for a big company like Ford.
What an embarrassment. Wonder if both sizes of radio (8, 12) are getting this treatment. They should have dumped the knobs completely if this is the case. Make smaller ones. These look ridiculous with nothing on them.I bet it has to do with chip shortage.
