fluids, brakes, tires didn't add up to 4400 between 3 vehicles hitting 200k each? can you explain me your ways mr. vehicle whisperer
3 sets of front brakes ($1000?), $30 oil changes every 10K miles ($600)...... With tires, it would've pushed me past $4400, you got me there. Still $4400 for a single vehicle for 5 years seems crazy.

Fail. This does not include the addiction to accessories that comes with ownership of a Bronco and the Bronco tax on said accessories.
Agreed. Can confirm addiction.

$4400 cost of maintenance? My past 3 cars, I ran to 200k+ and not sure I had $4400 in maintenance combined.

They're never going to assume you're doing the work yourself, as that would be an asinine assumption for a website to make.

Going straight from the owner's manual's recommendations:

Synthetic changes at your Ford dealership every 5,000 miles are probably $75 with coupon, and that includes the Ford-required inspections and fluid top-offs. You'd be an idiot not to change an EcoBoost's oil with synthetic every 5,000 miles.

Brake fluid flush at 3 years, $150ish. Cabin air filters every 20,000 miles, $60 each. Engine air filters every 30,000 miles, $60 each. Set of pads and rotors around 60,000 miles, probably $1000ish. Set of 5 new tires at 50,000 miles, probably about $1900 for K02s.

That gets me $4475. People that do their own maintenance will balk at that, but the article wasn't "here's how much maintenance parts cost for people that do their own work."

What's with the high maintenance costs for the Bronco? MIC replacement?
First Ford? ;)

In all seriousness, this is not a helpful "analysis." The Bronco benefits greatly from low depreciation, which is only a factor if/when you sell.

Other fluid changes as well if you follow the manual like axle, transmission, etc will put you a lot higher.

Most people never look at the manual and take their vehicles to the local quickie lube and say no to everything the tech recommends changing.

Whether you do the work yourself or not, the person i was replying to made the claim that they had 3 vehicles get to 200k each and it cost in total for all 3 for maintenance and upkeep less than 4400, which i am calling BS on cuz i just don't see how that's remotely feasible unless im reading it wrong.

Totally, I was agreeing with you.

On my wife's 2.7EB MKX, I'm spending about $470/yr on upkeep, but I get tires for cheap, I do my own work, and this year I'll have to do brakes which will really throw off my numbers. It would be SIGNIFICANTLY more cost if I was having the dealership do it.

Yes, I mentioned it earlier, I didn't include tires. Oil changes every 10K miles at $30 (60 changes $1800) air filters ($300), cabin filters ($300) sets of front bakes pads/rotors. I totally get that people pay a dealerships crazy money for 2 minute install of cabin and air filters, and if your spending $90 for an oil change, doing them at half the recommended intervals it would add up quickly. Heck using the average yearly mileage (15k) and Fords maintenace schedule, the first three years of ownership you are only looking a 6 oil changes, 1 air filter and 2 cabin filters which is less than $300 in your garage that a 10 year old can do.

How does one rate something for 5 years that hasn’t been out for 1. Am I missing something?

It’s been out closer to 3 now. And they can take projections based on recommended maintenance, fuel costs, insurance costs and current depreciation. Is this that hard to understand?

Does seem a little premature, doesn't it.

Nope. Projections are not facts. And only good while vehicle is under warranty. And none of the costs you mentioned has anything to do with parts failure after 3yrs/36k. That will be astronomical. Things will and have failed. Precollision camera, $1200.00. Let’s revisit in 18-24 months.
