Bone stock badlands (not me driving)

Non-Sas! Nice job. I mean, he could've made it at least interesting... lol 🤐

It is funny, right, that one person will be consumed with taking the best (least problematic) line, while the next guy's like, "I gotta climb that three foot rock right now, watch this!"

Well I am now onto part 2 of my vacation. So bare with me as I am operating on 2 bars of cell service at a cabin in Monticello UT.

So this morning it was a nice 30F and I went to hook up my small trailer and the front was grinding bad in 2wd. So out came the driver CV axle at 8am this morning. I did a good 20 miles of 2wd wheeling the day before with no issues. At this point plan on removing your driver front CV with a M190 failure. I didn't break the weaker cvs and stand behind the differential drop as being a major contributor to them living.

So people can say what they want, facts I wasn't to the step ledge on Hells Gate or bound up in any way. My passenger side had slid down and I had to back up and re-align. The failure occurred while coming back up prior to the technical section. I was attempting to get my passenger tire higher to climb the first step. My spotter was right in front of me help get the passenger tire in the right spot.

Fyi I was sober but need a ton of beers to flush the adrenaline out at the hotel.

@NORCALGXP and Me both ran a level 8 trail out in 2wd with no tugs after winching out of Hells Gate.

I plan to update my front differential comparison thread when I take the front apart. Going to see if I can salvage NorcalGXP as I am pretty sure he didn't blow his ring gear.

Steve St. Clair was spotting us on the radio. If you followed his directions to the letter you could walk right up it no problem! Guy knows the terrain out there!

Hells Gate is an obstacle the doesn't require clearance or big tires. I would say bigger tires and lift make it harder.

I hit my rock slider once the entire trip, Moab is very different from Sierra Nevada wheeling. My bronco is set up for wheeling constant rocks not climbing straight up walls. If I had to do it over I would have cranked my coilovers down 3".

Front locker makes a huge difference right at that spot. It doesn't "feel" like you need it...but man does it help keep that RF pinned against that wall! Time for 'ol Snack to upgrade!

Enjoy the rest of your trip. Waiting to hear the postmortem on the M190. Indeed the diff drop surely helped the CVs.

Glad you're alright. Would the M210 have faired any better? I honestly don't know the difference between the two.
The difference is 20.....

I'll be here all week...try the veal and don't forget to tip your waiter.

So I was 2 footing it coming off the brake and onto the throttle. Then bang, some intense steering and both feet on the brakes(grew up driving a 63 Studebaker so it's a natural panic move). Listen to the noise as I was in drive and it sounded like I went into park. Not sure what is actually broken as it's dark and I have a few Dos Equis in the blood stream. Made it off the trail in 2wd without a tug! Didn't realize it made the noise till I watched the video while we had tacos.

FYI When they talk about blowing both front CVs axles in the video that is @NORCALGXP because he actually destroyed his whole front end.

@builtMIbronco does this sound Familiar? Maybe the transfer case as I had been wheeling for hours in 4lo.

Thank to @popo_patty as I am operating remotely for posting the video.

FYI, that's not the line.

In all seriousness, sucks to see, especially on such a fun obstacle.

Proof that the M190 will work with 37's at the Mall but not on the rocks. Actual evidence is always better than just guessing.
