That’s helpful stuff! I’ll watch these. If they’re referring to an electrically driven pin that may help connect the dots on how we got from a computer glitch last week to replacing the front axle this week.
There was another that went through all the types of AWD, but I couldn’t find it on the forums here or on his page in the few minutes I spent on it. My guess is the solenoid is used to engage or disengage the transfer case which then determines if your front driveshaft is in use. How that’s integrated into the axles isn’t clear to me. Someone who has taken one apart can probably help more.

Update:

The original issue identified was that the FDRS software identified 2 modules as failing a network test. Per the wiring diagrams (in the workshop manual?) these two modules should be on 2 different networks, however they were coming up on the same network, which wasn't either of the networks they should be on. The specialist was having them trace color coded wiring and in middle of that trouble shooting process someone else in the shop identified an issue with the solenoid, which cleared the error messages. So they're replacing the entire front axle assembly as it's apparently all linked, and expecting that to "fix" it. Still no resolution on the modules/network issue and how that impacts my vehicle's function.

Also, the axle came in Friday and after the final pieces that came in today they discovered the new axle is broken. No resolution yet, but new part is supposed to be overnighted.

Mine wasn’t drivable.Couldn’t even turn the steering wheel. 🤦🏼‍♀️ And I don’t have 4A. Seems like a lot of these are cropping up though so I’m starting to wonder how many of us there are with this type issue.
This is not overly confidence inspiring for me since the nearest (very small) Ford dealer is 100 miles away. Hopefully they get these kinds of things figured out before 2025 when Ford builds my 20201 order.

That’s pretty much what I told the dealership yesterday. Like this isn’t giving me great confidence in the longevity of this vehicle.

I had this issue but it only happened in 4A. If I drove in 4A it would dump the transfer case into 4H. I could still drive in 2H, 4H and 4L so it wasn't any issue for me really. The dealer had to order a transfer case control module I think which took about a month to get in. I still went off roading while I waited but then once they replaced it right and I haven't had an issue since and I've been back in 4A since we had some snowy/icy conditions again.
Exact same issue for me. Been waiting a month for the module and they said maybe another week. No issues in 4H, 4L or 2H

Really sorry to hear of your challenges with your new Bronco.

While one persons experience certainly does not mean you will experience the same thing...

We had a 2016 F150 Lariat that I got 16 miles on. had the dash light up and the wrench error. Took them a few weeks to get it all sorted out.

Once they did they had it figured out that the wiring was pinched in the manufacturing of the truck at the factory.

we worried a lot about keeping the truck. Glad we did. Was one of the best vehicles we have ever owned.

So I finally have my Bronco back!!!

Dealership was able to install the parts and confirm it was a bad solenoid. They dropped it off to me on Tuesday and it’s been driving great ever since!

Your issues sounded like mine. So the axle fixed it?

I just had some bs with my 4x4 system happen yesterday. Posted up in another post and got roasted by ford fanboy apologists. I have 1000 miles and the 4x4 system geeked out going 10mph on the beach. Warning for all new bronco owners out there. These things are really nice to look at but full of gremlins. I seriously regret my purchase. Not confident it will last a few years without being in the shop all of the time. Of course ford customer service suggested I buy a very expensive extended warranty to make me feel better about my purchase.
The day I brought it home I found this concerning rusting and they did nothing and said it was “normal” but if it breaks or malfunctions it’s not covered under the 36k warranty. Multiple case numbers with multiple reps and discussions with dealer.
